This is the one Yannick directed. Can't wait to see it! The preview looked a little freaky though.

I really liked this episode. It was somewhat predictable, but there were bits and bobs that kept me interested throughout. Firstly. Murdoch, you're supposed to be really smart. Why would you go into a dark, creepy zombie lair with no backup and no means of defending yourself. Why. One of these days, you're going to get yourself killed. I totally forgot that Bates was in this one- so that was a pleasant- albeit creepy- surprise. I'm just glad he didn't go after Julia, as I earlier predicted. Julia and the little girl were really, really sweet. I'm so happy about Julia's inclusion into these new episodes. It's much more natural than season 6. Gemily is progressing more swiftly than Jilliam. This must be corrected, and soon. When the girl said her name, I originally thought that she said 'Eddy'. This confused me muchly, until I discovered that her name was Betty. Clearly, my hearing leaves something to be desired. Emily is now using Julia's lame jokes. Somehow, she makes them much creepier. I don't like it.

I agree. The episode was a bit predictable. But it wasn't terrible. It had its moments.
I expect that this episode took inspiration from the old-fashioned "ice pick lobotomies" of the early 20th century. Nasty stuff. It takes the people who undergo those 'operations' years to recover. Some of them never do. Some of them get even worse. The history of mental illness and treatment is not pleasant. And far more unpleasant than regular medical history!

This episode was very well done…I have to admit that before seeing it I was looking for a wacky way of incorporating zombies and George being all over the place with his theory but after watching the episode I like what they did much much more. This Dr. Bates is (well was) one scary person (good link to last season's interactive platform); in the name of science and may I say "fame" he didn't hesitate to play with human lives. I really liked Julia's inputs as a psychologist helping the girl and really be involved in the case; the fact that we saw the x-rays' machine again and Emily does enjoy working on brains (I didn't enjoy her making a lame joke too, it felt way too forced and Emily is not supposed to be a Julia's copycat). The case was interesting and Brackenreid being his usual self couldn't help but having a jab at French people (again ). Also, the last scene was a nice visual reference to the theme of Halloween. I won't make a long statement about romance lacking again imo, they were some touching moments for sure…but darn it even George & Emily were better this episode and that's says a lot as I DON'T ENJOY watching their "relationship" !!!…Next week I'll probably watch the new episode with a glass (or several) of alcohol!!! Finally I think that so far this is the best episode that Yannick has directed…he's probably finding more and more his footing after having done 4 episodes now.

What joke was that? I seemed to have missed a lot this ep cuz apparently George mentioned his aunt Nettle and went on about a sinus cure, ie. the neti pot and I totally missed it.
Haha, I know you just loved that!
I'm still partial to the first one he did, Buffalo Shuffle, but it's not really a fair comparison since that is one of my favourite eps from S4.
So as for myself, I too thought it was predictable but good. George didn't disappoint with his crazy theories. I've never even heard of Revenants before, or at least don't recall that I have. So that was an interesting history lesson! Even though I knew it was coming, it was still really funny when Murdoch trolled George about voodoo sorcerers!
We've now had two episodes in a row where they've been around children, around the same age, both of which have effectively become orphaned...I don't know if this is hinting at anything for the future but I will continue to be delusional on that score.

It was "it seems that was a dead end" -insert snort of laughter here-. The awkward Emily joke, I mean.
I liked that little girl better than I did Ben. I felt she was a better actress.

Oh yeah I do recall her saying that! But unlike Julia's lame jokes this wasn't funny AT ALL.
I liked how she interacted with Julia, not sure if I liked her better than Ben though. They were both a bit wooden but for different reasons. She was traumatized and he was just Murdoch-like. But Ben was so darn cute!

I posted last night, but my comment seems to have gone missing???
Oh well
I really enjoyed this ep, nothing brilliant but it was lots of fun and very enjoyable. And I managed to get retweeted by Yannick during the show. Luck for me the start of the show coincided with a break at work here in Melbourne so I jumped on my iPad. And I loved Julia's teal outfit, hope we get to see more of that one, it is so lush. And, who doesn't love a George crazy theory episode.

Maybe you only THOUGHT you had posted it but forgot to actually hit reply. Yeah I loved it in Murdoch Ahoy too! Hopefully it'll be used a bit more!

I've been reading some comments on Facebook; these comments state that their respective owners did not enjoy this week's episode, as it was 'too goofy'.
Goofy? I don't think so. If any episode of season seven thus far was 'too goofy', it was 'The Filmed Adventures of Detective William Murdoch'.
That received an outpouring of love, but it is this episode that people are questioning.
I.... don't get it- but whatever. Opinions are different. I didn't find this episode goofy; my faults with it were that it was a.)too predictable, and b.)there was a lack of Jilliam.

It was a very atmospheric episode. I liked that. Both creepy and interesting.
Though if you hadn't watched the web series from last season we'd be lost about who Bates was. His ending serves him right.
George and Emily are awful. I swear they're getting less chemistry as time goes on. They're really trying to sell them as cute and romantic but it's not working. At least for me. I find them downright cringy in their scenes.

Yeah it reminded me a bit of Dracula. That novel is all about the creepy atmosphere...but it's pretty boring, I didn't find this ep boring or goofy...except the last scenes with the dumb dumbs walking into things and the guy who attacked Emily was making some silly faces. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. They aren't bothering me at all. But that's probably just cuz I don't pay much attention to their scenes anymore.

I wish I could ignore their scenes but they seem to getting pushed on us more often and more blatantly now. George's goofy staring at her at the start of the episode and the hair thing in the morgue were just so badly acted. Maybe it's the actors fault who plays George. He lays it on far too thick in their scenes. I generally like his acting, but he needs to chill in the G&E scenes.
They are not the next W/J and the writers need to stop trying to make them into it.

We obviously have superior taste, LOL. And yeah! where's the Jilliam??? Though I did think the comment Julia made about him needing to loosen his tie was interesting; not just literally. Is this a lead up to something? They have been very 'hands off' so far. Just rambling thoughts.
