Oww never go on IMDB for any show or movie. That is a very negative site that lives to complain about what actually works on shows/movies and pretend they love what doesn't. I can't take the opinions on IMDB seriously, and haven't for years. I call it the home of the trolls lol.
G/E aren't the only part of the MM writing I have an issue with. I think in the last few series they've gotten a little lazy with the crime plots. But I still find it an enjoyable series, and how often can you say that about something that is seven seasons old?
They have kept their freshness a lot longer than others. Just tone down G/E and make the crimes a little more thought out. Some episodes they are so they can do it. The characters themselves are still great and W/J are still a draw.

To add to this rather amusing conversation, I have noticed that different websites tend to bolster- loosely- the same sort of opinions. As Murdochic said, the majority of us on here seem not to be gigantic fans of E/G. I try to stick with this website, and occasionally Twitter, as Facebook tends to irritate me. I often see the same questions, repeated over and over... "how can we see Murdoch Mysteries in the states", "when is the season six dvd coming out", ect. Opinions on there can be very harsh, and the frequent misspelling of Murdoch (as Murdock) gets under my skin. I won't even begin on the imdb boards. Against my better judgement, I browsed there just moments ago... I read several posts about how terribly written and executed Jilliam has been since season one... but that the writers have proved they can write great romance with George and Emily. O-O Annyways, my post got very quickly off topic. I'm not old, and I don't much like Gemily. Yay! The 'mooning cow' bit of Murdochic's post made me laugh. Let's have no more mooning cows on this show! OMG the Murdock thing! Seriously can't people read the title literally right above where they are posting?

I mostly agree (especially about IMDB) but I wish they were just a tad more fresh still (but I also think shows shouldn't be on for more than 5 seasons so I tend to be pretty harsh about this sort of thing). And W/J are starting to get on my nerves, well William more so for a change. Those two can be really frustrating to watch. If the writers intent was to make us as frustrated as the characters, then they've succeeded marvelously!

Why are you ticked with William, CC?
Julia ticked me off a fair amount last season, though I totally got her most of the time. I just hated all of the heavy stuff. This season, I'm seriously enjoying her scenes. I'm a little frustrated with the lack of Jilliam, but I can be patient (not much) when I try to be. So, I shall try my hardest to be patient. I am relying heavily on Loch Ness Murdoch to deliver the goods. My wrath shall be unleashed if the episode is not decent.

This series is longer so they're drawing the W/J stuff out more. I expect they'll be back to being a full-on couple by the end of the season. They might even get married in the finale, you never know. There's only so long they can put that off. They're both single and aging a bit, it's not realistic to keep waiting.

I've been reading some comments on Facebook; these comments state that their respective owners did not enjoy this week's episode, as it was 'too goofy'. Goofy? I don't think so. If any episode of season seven thus far was 'too goofy', it was 'The Filmed Adventures of Detective William Murdoch'. That received an outpouring of love, but it is this episode that people are questioning. I.... don't get it- but whatever. Opinions are different. I didn't find this episode goofy; my faults with it were that it was a.)too predictable, and b.)there was a lack of Jilliam. I am so with you on this. i was a bit dumbfounded by those comment too. We obviously have superior taste, LOL. And yeah! where's the Jilliam??? Though I did think the comment Julia made about him needing to loosen his tie was interesting; not just literally. Is this a lead up to something? They have been very 'hands off' so far. Just rambling thoughts. Carolion I had the exact same thought about the tie scene! While re-watching episodes, I have seen brief expressions and what I thought previously were just off-hand remarks which come to make total sense when the truth comes out "down the road" (eg: Julia not being able to have children, Julia not happy in her marriage with Darcy). On it's own, I don't think the tie scene was a big deal (my husband doesn't like to be primped or "mothered" either) but I can't help thinking the scene was filmed for a reason. After all they did have him playing with his collar a fair amount before he spoke to Julia so I think it will come to mean something. For the moment it certainly didn't alarm Julia, she just shrugged it off. Of course, Julia's never come close to trying to loosen his clothing before (not in reality anyway)!! Maybe they are having them spend this cooling off time getting to know one another's little quirks and foibles. He knows Julia will not always listen to him when he gives her direction (Murdoch Ahoy) and accepts it cause she is often right. And now she knows he doesn't like his tie to be fiddled with and she's ok with that. Maybe the tie thing is just one of several of these little moments we will see as they learn more about one another's good points and bad points and become more and more comfortable with one another as a couple.

I wish he had let her loosen his tie! That would have made me smile a lot!

I wish he had let her loosen his tie! That would have made me smile a lot! But I guess that would have been out of character for William.

I'm catching up on the series via acorn.tv, so my comment is pretty late. My initial thought was William didn't want Julia to see his choke marks. I'm assuming there was some form of bruising from his encounter.

What a lot of fussing would have ensued! On rewatching episodes, I often catch bits of acting byplay that I didn't catch originally. Tokyobelle just drew my attention to part of Let Loose the Dogs where William is trying to hide a note from Julia from George - lol. So much care goes into the acting. I'm glad that rewatching a few times enables me to appreciate it. Also, the pictures from the Open House show that some incredible detail goes into the sets as well.

I'm envious that I've missed the opportunity to engage with fellow fans. I do enjoy reading the threads after watching each episode, but since no one mentioned the choke scene, I felt obligated to comment.

Now I have a reason to watch that ep again! William might have been in a bit of pain, too - hence less buttoned up than usual.

Just finished season 7 this morning and now I'm depressed... Aw, don't be - Brackenreid has been spotted alive and well on set for Season 8. And wedding bells are ringing! I guess it's more of suffering from withdrawal, vice depression. Maybe I'll watch again starting from Season 1. Seems like a number of fans have watched this series more than once.
