Probably not a live-in, but still a daily presence. I don't think they will bicker about the small stuff moneywise. It's the bigger issue of that traditional male role as breadwinner. There is the potential for him to feel like a kept man on some level. I have no doubt that Julia won't care about the money.

Julia will probably overthink it and worry more about William feeling like a kept man while William is too busy to think about it. Legally, it's possible William actually gets the property though. I didn't think about servants. What a crimp in the love life.

I have been studiously avoiding going there just to keep you on track but you did it anyway. Hmph.

And just think about it this way, a part time housekeeper will much less of a crimp than a dirty, messy house!

I also can't see William EVER being comfortable with servants. He's used to having Mrs. Kitchen about, but he lives in her house. At the very least they will need a housekeeper/cook a)because they are both so busy and b) I don't have any sense that Julia knows much about the domestic arts. I was about to agree on William being "not the servant type", but a boarding house keeper did make meals, do laundry, darn socks, take care of all those "bachelor" needs in a "motherly" fashion. I think it could be regarded in terms of duty and care instead of serving, as long as no one was wearing a uniform. It would probably be more comfortable if one of them had a spinster relative to take in. But really, I think they'd rather have the place to themselves for a while. It's not like they haven't been repressing their longings for a DECADE. *whistles innocently*

Julia will have no choice but to give up her wealth. The minute they are married it's his, by law. I just don't think William will be completely comfortable with it. But you are right that it will only be an issue if the writers want it to be. b) I don't have any sense that Julia knows much about the domestic arts. That answered that question. D: Now I'm wondering if William will feel bad about taking what was formerly Julia's, and all the discretionary power and choice that comes with having money. I'm imagining Julia getting all frazzled in the kitchen, wondering why it's not the same as basic chemistry. Has there been an episode where George proved to be an outstanding cook, or does he fit that stereotype so well that I'm imagining that? Uncle George may have to do all the cooking.

I don't think they've covered George's cooking skills, but he is excellent at gift-wrapping Even if he was a gourmet chef though, they can't have him do all the cooking though. He already does so much for William, the cooking would just cross a line of taking advantage.

He can already sew and choose a matching tie. But somehow it just seems right. And when he's cooking for his new girl, he can show Emily what she missed.
