Hehe, just doing some shopping. What do you think of this? Looks very good on "willowy" women, and has the materials look of Victorian/Edwardian era. Can be shaded silver or off white. I don't like the hair crown thing, though. I think Julia should wear one of the fancy hair pieces she usually wears to parties instead of a traditional veil. Perhaps silver flowers? Dang, I wish I could wear this dress. So shimmery.

Quick, you've got to get these pics over to the show's Wardrobe Dept right away, snacky !!! I wonder if they sew their own dresses in -house? I think this one is actually make-able. I'm looking for the right hair piece to go with it. I was thinking something like a silver flower hair decoration (similar to the piece Julia wore to the ball in Twentieth Century Murdoch). But I think the silver idea is being influenced by the dress - I'm not sure how it would actually look on Julia. Maybe something like small pink or white flowers would be better? Re: the silver flower thing. Looks much better than a the tin crown thing above. But not sure regarding Julia's coloring. Also, who knows whether she will be tan/frizz-honey-haired or pale/smooth-blond?

I just realized the Ladies Emporium lacks bridal wears. D: Am writing a short MM review for them. Nooooooo! The Julia's bridal shop has been cursed! Hope this doesn't have ramifications for the wedding itself.

Love the dress! I think it would look great on Julia's slim figure. Good question about the costumes...I did notice that after Julia marries Darcy, she seems to get much more fashionable!

Love the dress! I think it would look great on Julia's slim figure. Good question about the costumes...I did notice that after Julia marries Darcy, she seems to get much more fashionable! I'm a big fan of Julia's wardrobe upgrade - especially the daring evening dresses. I once read an essay in a steampunk science fiction anthology that claimed steampunk was all about the fashion. The guy that owns the blog where I wrote my MM review wrote his dissertation on the idea that steampunk is an "aesthetic". I buy into both those ideas. Even William's lab equipment is a kind of retro fashion accessory. So, with that in mind, the MM wardrobe team should keep Julia dressed as fantastically (with the emphasis on the fantasy) as possible). I really hope we get a sneak peek at Julia's dress - at least to alleviate the fear she she'll get married in the same piece of Barbie Doll fluff she wore to the Darcy wedding.

Oh wow...in the bigger pics, I still love the dress, but what is up with that tiara? It is just not working for that poor girl. I much prefer the flower design you found, snacky.

Yeah that tiara is awkward. It looks like it was retrieved out of a salvage yard. As the seasons go on, Julia does a lot of elaborate things with her hats and hair. She has a lot of expectations to live up to at her wedding. And she'll probably be expected to achieve the hardest thing of all: simple elegance. I bet a "good enough for TV" version of that dress could be made for under a hundred bucks, using foil and sequins for the sparkly bits.
