I thought of that, but that was a verbal exchange - I don't think there was anything that could make a good picture...? Yeah I dunno...she talked about her 'woman's group' thing in the first episode or two of S5 but that storyline apparently got dropped until this season...I don't think there were any suggestive looks in the ax murderer one either...but I don't generally pay as much attention to what Emily is saying and doing compared to everyone else. I've noticed she rolls her eyes a lot though. Maybe best just to focus on how Emily regards men: Credit: bloupine.tumblr.com/post/99181145695/some-things-change-some-things-dont-emily-gracePs. Should I make some casual remark about who is wielding the big stick in the second pic?

She doesn't have chemistry with George, but maybe she will with someone else. George needs a lady to spoil and dote on, and Emily isn't that girl. I must add, she was very into LG and def liked what she saw at the beach when he came out of the water like a nymph. . She might even still be with him if he she hadn't yet found out who he really was last season.

It's true that she was into LG, but she's in an area where her expectations, and I think we can go so far as say her desires, are being formed by immense cultural pressures. At the same time, some of the casual reading I've done over the last year has brought out some big "sapphism" scandals that might have raised awareness (or turned a normal "girl's lockerroom" practice into a scandal) so Emily might just be opening her eyes to the possibilities. Sometimes you don't even know you're capable of falling in love until it happens.

Okay, here's my first salvo. Should I take that last bit of profanity out? Feeling a bit grumpy at the minute because of the way "Grabtree" was given equal time in the Peter Mitchell interview.

I don't support the ship, but I hate the name Grabtree. I see it as Grab tree, which is just no. No No me gusta. Naw I'd leave the profanity It fits the mood of the piece.

This is the Emily I am interested in seeing this season. Her Wednesday Adams thing was kind of juvenile and she has had to do some growing up. I would much rather see her develop as a modern woman, without need of a man, for a while. She is the new kid on the block. There is lots of room for her to pick up Julia's kick-ass torch for a while (not that Julia has put it down...she's just very distracted by ties at the moment).

She also said at the FanExpo panel that there would be a relationship, perhaps it's not a man, there again, perhaps it's Henry! Not sure why every character has to have a partner.

Certainly not Henry!!!!! I actually think the writers should focus on character development and great mystery plots for a while and leave us to do our own shipping...seeing as we're so good at it.

I've always wanted to see Emily get involved in serious scientific research (there was a LOT going on at the start of the 20th century!!!) and/or continue with her informal research into the boundaries of life and death.

I really hope it's not Henry. I just can't see it. Henry is a roue - I see him dating a woman older than himself, with a lot more money, allowing himself to be a bit of a kept man. In the future he will probably get a law degree and become a politician. I'm putting myself on Team Lillian Moss just for the hell of it! But it's also okay if Emily experiments and decides that's not for her.

Yes, I'm starting to miss the great mystery plots already. I've been watching the early seasons with Eclair and the writing for some of those was just exquisite. I miss Brackenreid grousing about William's charts, hiding his liquor, and "coming up with a good idea once in a while". I miss William inventing stuff. I miss George secretly showing he's better than anyone realizes at stuff. I miss Julia being brilliant instead of being told she's brilliant. I miss morgue humor (now Emily's purview). I miss William fantasizing about Julia - I hope there's still an excuse for that now that they are married! Though a lot of people voted for "adorkable William" in the poll, I kind of feel that "adorkable William" goes with the "love letter to the fans" eps, and it's time to bring back some of that kick ass NoirDetective!William. Character development needs to be folded into the mystery plots. I agree.
