Hmm, that's true - Julia certainly seems to know a thing or two about manipulating men herself. I'm just bummed if "pretty clothes" is the thing that would work on William. Seems shallow. I want him to be primarily attracted to her intelligence. I don't think that's all he's attracted to-any number of women could do it for him if that was the case. I think Julia was starting to notice that William was interested I her, but she needed her feminine wiles to lasso him in and make him realize that she was more than a pathologist and fellow nerd, she could do other things as well. At least it's fair that William was equally intimidated on that point (intelligent men vs. brute strength).

I believe FallenBelle is the Eternal President of that cult? I lead the Cult of the Magic Homburg. Did you see his new hat? I forgot how to add photos, but it is on YB's twitter page. I love his hat. I only saw the inside of the hat band - I assume it's still a homburg though the style says "Winston"? He also said Il Detectivo - so all the magic comes from Italy! The last remnants of the Benandanti fighting the Stregheria?

This is still one of my favorite episodes because the "Outside of Murdoch" experience says so much about William's regular identity at the same time. And plus there's angst, romance, and he get's to do a little heroic ass-kicking, too. And there's a bicycle chase! And, as Murdochic likes to point out, William remembers Julia in lingerie... It's one of my favourite, if not favourite, episodes as it shows what William could be if he'd only let go. I can watch this ep over and over and never get tired of it. That should be the free promo one they unleash on the U.S. - I think guys would like that one, too, even if it is a blatant movie rip off.

I want him to be primarily attracted to her intelligence. Well when he describes her to Pensell, he doesn't start with 'beautiful', that came after witty and intelligent I think. But that's also before Julia starting dressing nicer so... Good point. Honestly, it always surprises me he gets around to beautiful in that scene, though. Because I don't think of Julia as particularly beautiful in Season 1, and especially not sitting next to Ms. Pensell. I guess you could say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and in that scene we get to find out that William sees Julia as a beauty...and even more beautiful than Ms. Pensell. It was still weird, though, since in that season I wasn't thinking of beauty as her strong point, lol.

There's absolutely no way it's a new discovery. It developed from weaning babies, it's been going on for eons. However it doesn't mean that it was known all over the world as a way to court your lady friend. But if it had gone on longer we wouldn't be having all these delicious discussions about Williams sex life, or lack thereof. That being said I too wish it had gone on a bit longer.... But it didn't have to be a way to woo your sweetheart-it could have been done when you were in the throes of passion. Such as being a sexually frustrated William or Julia. I would say William was probably wooing during the first 4 seasons. But perhaps they were getting adventurous with some French kissing in season 7...

I wasn't necessarily just talking of wooing, I was including everything in courting. Perhaps a proper lady wouldn't want her gentleman friend sticking his tongue in her mouth. To be honest it doesn't really sound particularly delightful and as Snacky said not many men are skilled in the art.

I'm interested in what Mrs. Brisby's copy of the Kama Sutra has to say, because I'm sure William has a much dog-eared copy, and at some point will want to try out some stuff.

The problem with this being the free promo is that it's not a classic MM ep, not saying TDoDO is either. Something more true to the flavour of the show would be a good promo ep.

Even after the proposal they were still only doing the hunt and peck.

The last remnants of the Benandanti fighting the Stregheria? I'm firmly in the cult of the magic Homburg and I did some research on this hat. Biltmore was a Canadian company, fairly recently sold to a US company. The Winston is a Homburg the President line and it's not a cheap hat if it's the fur felt one and I suspect it will be. The original hat comes with a feather and metal Biltmore badge on the bow. The Hatter is a hat shop in Toronto. Here's the pic off twitter: Attachment DeletedJust looked this up again, the Winston is the fur felt hat, top of the line. Price range on Amazon.com is $195.00 - $214.95 US.

Even after the proposal they were still only doing the hunt and peck. That scene at the end of Ragtime was rather suggestive. During the panel Helene suggested William was originally not the best kisser (at hunt and peck!), and Julia had to work with him for a while. (What got me thinking that in TGM William was more Don Juan in his own imagination...) Too bad Cosmo didn't exist in their day: www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/confessions/advice/g2264/kissing-tips/

If you saw the twitter pic from the day before where he was wearing the Orphan Black sweat top there's water in the background. I suspect he went in fully clothed and hatted plus it had got wet during the ALS challenge. I was surprised he didn't hand the hat off for the challenge instead of letting it get wet. Can't imagine why he wouldn't remove his hat before going in water either (unless he had no choice) when he's so firmly attached to it.

Well given the past tendency of the hat to come off when William gets wet, he's going to be in danger indeed. I wonder what episode that's for. I agree he probably donated the old hat for the ALS challenge after the new one was on its way. I still wish some of the other ALS challenges had been done a la Time Lord!

He only got the last hat at the beginning of S7 and I had the impression he'd had that one since S1, though how it would last that long I don't know. Did anyone notice that he started out (European order) with a different hat which still appears in all the stock scenes. Glad they changed it to the current Homburg, a much more stylish hat.
