LOL you guys! This is on twitter! What? I can' t see images - I'm out and using my kindle. It's side by side pics of William and Julia. The caption is "the perfect match". The kicker is his pic is the tshirt one you love from last night and in Julia's, she is tightening her tie as well. I think the caption should be "the ties that bind". Fallenbelle is going to flip!

I knew the actor who played the priest looked familiar! I think like all Canadians actors have been on this show at least twice. Dang - is that why he looked familiar? I thought he had played William's priest before. I think MM does a lot of recycling. I spotted one while watching Season 3 with eclair- forgot who it was now. Yeah they definitely do...but I think all Canadian shows have to cuz there's so few actors. Off the top of my head we've got the ginger haired guy from Power also in MAN. We've got one of the Shakespearean actors from Body Double in Tour de Murdoch. We've got Yannick's wife in S3 and 7. There's a bunch more but I can't think of them right now.

I knew the actor who played the priest looked familiar! He was in Shades of Grey as well! He was the boss who took advantage of his employees! That William manhandled at the end! I think like all Canadians actors have been on this show at least twice. Good catch! I was sure he looked familiar but I had no idea from where. Actually I had to IMDB him to find the other ep he was in and then look through that one cuz I didn't recognize the characters name. Also, he's got a 'stache in SoG.

I'm guessing that when she found out her son William hated her cooking, she took some cooking classes. So, yeah-his discomfort with ladies of the night. (Side note: I enjoy thinking of all the polite euphemisms) He's been a cop for 15 years and he's been comfortable around them before-particularly with Ettie. I don't understand getting nervous here-unless it was done for comic effect. So, there's a crass expression I grew up with and there were two variants: "As nervous as a virgin in a whorehouse" and "As nervous as a virgin on their wedding night." Both of these fit William to a T. As soon as that girl propositioned him, he freaked out and normally relatively cool and collected William practically ran out of there-running into a table he was so freaked out. Getting shot at by baddies? No big deal. Getting openly propositioned for sex? RUN!!!!!!!! This is not boding well for the wedding night. Is this why he's dragging his feet? He's suffering from extreme performance anxiety? Understandable if he's a 40-year-old virgin. Perhaps building a home is a fantasy for William, and another sign to him that he's providing. Given the failure that his father was in providing, I don't think this can be overlooked. It's going to be very important to him. Still, that's one of those discussions he needs to have with Julia. Oooh - I've never heard that expression "nervous as a virgin in a whorehouse"- no wonder I didn't pick it up! But William has been in whorehouses before. This was the "best" whorehouse in town - presumably an equivalent to The Music Academy, and William had no problems there. I'd be curious to see how "nervous" William was in the movie version where he met Ettie. In any case, I'm persuaded he only became nervous when he was directly propositioned. Maybe this is because part of his mind is considering it. Maybe it's hard to be such a proper gentleman, and he's been holding out for a loooooooooong time. He doesn't want to be put in a position where his resole might crumble. I'm not arguing against William being a virgin - my feeling is he hasn't slept with anyone during the show run of Murdoch Mysteries (except possibly Anna in Walk on the Wild Side) - he possibly hasn't slept with anyone since he became engaged to Liza and started keeping himself "pure" for marriage. So no matter what, it's been a very long time of upholding "principles" for him. That "tapas" is brimming over! Regarding the beef stew: when did Mrs. Kitchen find out William hated her cooking? William is too much of a gentleman to reveal that sort of thing! I totally agree with your theory of building a home as a symbol of providing. Regarding the movie scenes with Ettie: the movie William was very cool, cold even, when he first met Ettie. He was trying to solve a murder that happened close to where she and her friend, Alice lived. She was a very hardened, very poor doxy who hated "coppers", especially when he rebuffed her invitation to intimacy. He was obviously tempted, but it looked like he could not stomach the moral qualms. It was only when Alice was murdered that she began to cooperate with Murdoch in his investigation. He still would not sleep with her, but she had more respect for him for it.

If this is all about Bat Masterson, Butch Cassidy, Sundance and the law of the jungle versus the law, the I wonder which episode deals with William's past. During the fan fest panel, Christina Jennings mentioned the book "Shipwreck" that Maureen Jennings had written about a case William solved as a boy. I found it at the local library and it was a delight to read. For those of you who find Maureen's other novels too dark, this is for you. It is also very short, only 78 pages. From what Christina was saying it sounded as though the episode is based on this novel or novella . Has anyone else read it?

Ok I have finally read through all of this and I agree about Julia's character growth, William's Bambi eyes and the absurdity with Mrs. Kitchen. But I have to admit that I find the thought of William building a house super hot!!!!!! He would not be wearing a suit. He would be using tools! He would be sweating! Ok I may be a bit weird but I like the picture in my head! Plus I found that incredibly sweet. Just as I found Julia's comment about marrying "all" of him so sweet I screamed. My husband got a real kick out of seeing my reactions last night as he always watches with me.
Agreed about the preview dress. Yuck! Also agree that this next ep. will feature lots of nightmare scenarios (at least I hope so).

That's why I wish we were in on William's fantasy about building the house (I suspect it's an electric castle in his mind). I agree this is super hot and romantic in its own way. But William does not have time for this. Also your husband is so sweet, lol. A lot of good hubbies attached to this forum!

In the last movie she's no longer a prostitute but a fake psychic which makes her a little more palatable however he still resists the temptation despite her throwing herself at him. I think Ettie loved him.

Which is probably why, in the TV series, when he meets her in TGM, he is very warm towards her. IMHO we are supposed to speculate on what might have happened between them in the past since the "movie" time, although that timeline is definitely not consistent. Meaning we cannot assume that the series "follows" the movies in time. The writers do not want to be restricted that way. They are fee to pick and choose the elements of the movies that fit with their vision. I am completely okay with that.

I think this Ettie storyline is the best way to figure why they know each other so well and are completely comfortable with one another though. It seems to be one storyline that carries over from the movies.
