I guess I'm in the minority in that I didn't mind tea and toast William (showing the Murdoch's at breakfast) as it wasn't any different that showing him demonstrating or working on an invention before getting called to a murder scene. I do want to see Julia in other types of scenes, but I wasn't upset by it. I also didn't mind the whoopee cushion/flowers scene as I agree with Carco-he's not used to joking around and is trying something new. In my experience, men enjoy playing jokes on ladies they like, and in the end, William is no different. I dont mind these scenes-they're showing domestic William when we're not used to that. My only complaint with them is when they're the only scenes with Julia. Oh I don't mind the domestic bliss scenes, it's the way Yannick is playing William that I object to, it's kind of silly. I did like the flowers/whoopee cushion scene though. Actually I really liked the way he was so serious whilst making the whoopee cushion. Typical William even jokes are serious! Yes the same. And I also liked the fact William was bad at telling jokes as well as how serious he got about his testing his "joke technology". That was very much in character. I feel bad about bagging on the last scene because I thought the acting was good - and it was funny. It just wasn't in line with William's character.

I didn't think it was too out of character, he's much lighter with Julia. Also it was just the culmination of his usual gadgetry and he wanted to prove to Julia that he could make her laugh.

I expect William to do something uncharacteristic from time to time. It would be strange if he didn't.

William and Julia are usually such braniacs with each other that it is wonderful to see them being playful, especially William. They can solve all the mysteries they want, but if they don't laugh together then it won't last. I love that William made it his mission to make her laugh.

I don't mind when William laughs - I made a post in the William Murdoch section collecting William smiles long ago. But I guess there is an in character way for a nerdy, introverted person who doesn't smile often to do it. The idea that William has a "different personality at home" is another matter, and this is what doesn't work for me.

We are half way through Season 8 and we can count on one hand the number of times we have seen William at home/sans suit and homburg. I see it more as the writers using this opportunity to further develop his character. William is happy, in love and a newlywed. We are bound to see some differences. Also, William is finally with the one person who does bring out his more romantic, lighter side on a daily basis, so I don't see how this constitutes a different personality at home. Clearly Julia is getting a hold of that tie a lot.

It kind of astounds me this hasn't been done already - it's an easy archtypical goto scene with a lot of shipper capital. I think chances are high we will see it by the end of the season. btw, I caught Castle last night and they recycled a classic scene fromthe X-Files - showing boredom and uselessness by throwing pencils at the ceiling and making them stick. If The X-Files stole that scene, someone enlighten me.

No idea...but they probably did since there was a good 90+ years of film before then... btw, did you hear that they are planning on rebooting x-files with the original cast? hmm, does that even qualify as a reboot if the same people are in it?

I think if that happens fallenbelle will have entered a state of shock and we won't be able to get anything out of her that resembles a normal conversation for weeks. WEEKS I TELL YOU! I think it does kind of. It actually might be pretty good considering the CGI and tech is a lot more advanced now so if they keep the premise the sameish it might be passable.

btw, did you hear that they are planning on rebooting x-files with the original cast? Sincr there is an entire ARC dedicated to liberating Julia from her corset, I predict we will see a modern one on the floor along with a witty remark about its ease of removal and a tie for emphasis. Unless William has a neat freak attack and folds them both neatly on a chair. I don't think messing with a classic is usually a good idea, but I think thexpolitical environment inthe America DESERVES the X-Files. Bring it on, Scully and Mulder!
