Acting and telling jokes are two totally different skills and not necessarily interchangeable. Telling jokes is all about the timing as is comedic acting, some have it and others don't. William was good at dramatic acting in SotWS2, his jokes seem to fall flat. Yeah, I think we're saying the same thing... Just in a different way....

Also, George got William a chalkboard for home use as a wedding present? Hey that's a hipster iPad!

Aw - the poor guy couldn't act either. Also didn't Inspector B recently get tripped up when William unexpectedly made a joke...? 703 bothers me because we know from S5 that he CAN in fact act quite convincingly! I thought Anna really was dead the first time I saw it because of his reaction. Julia knew he was pretending too...so her laughing at him in 703 really bothers me. But I suppose as is the case with this ep, it's more delivery of lines that he's bad at. Showing emotions is his forte, ironically. Maybe William can only "act" in real life situations, but he gets hung up if he thinks the situation is artificial somehow, i.e. stage acting. Many people are great conversationalists, but horrible public speakers.

Yes, I'm sure it was chalk full of cheeky references that we didn't catch. Yep!

Sounds like it...except hopefully George isn't hiding books on how losing his virginity would work under his pillow... Haha and didn't that book compare the human body to a well functioning plumbing job? I don't remember, but if it did, does that mean the writers are trying to cover how lame it is to make George follow the William storyline from the books by being meta...ack...

Oy! No source yet for this ep! It's usually available in the morning. I suppose it's for the best - I have some stuff I have to get done today. Grouch, grouch. Pretty sure I won't be able to see it this evening. Whoopie cushion laffs may have to be scheduled out to Thursday!!!

Too bad What Lies Buried wasn't left until just before the hiatus to go out on a high note....

I wonder if they lost someone from the writing team. Or perhaps CBC is intervening some, so there's more "writing by committee" or answering to some outside forces...? I also wonder if this is why they released the episode titles so late. The episode titles themselves started to make people suspicious with names like "Appreciation Society" and "CrabtreeMania" - these all suggest nutty humor instead of the 10% darker stuff...

I think they do have to pass the scripts past the CBC but not sure about committee writing though they do get together for discussions someone then goes away and writes the script from what I can gather. Last time I looked there were three episodes where the titles hadn't been released yet, I'm wondering if they're holding onto them though they may be up by now. ...Just looked it up and the three episode titles still aren't released, E10, 13 & 14.

If I did write something later it'd probably be more like Julia getting revenge...and then the pranks getting increasingly out of hand. ROFL - I'm laughing already! I feel I need this in my life.

This is the order of writers this season, Mitchell, Mitchell, Jordan Christianson, Paul Aitken, Simon McNabb, Carol Hay, Aitken, Hay, Christianson. Christianson and McNabb have only been on since last season. I'm surprised that Hay wrote High Voltage considering it seemed to lack her usual finesse. I recall that Aitken said he likes writing by committee cuz he likes the constant feedback...He wrote the 100th ep and What Lies Buried...and both of those were among the better eps this season imo. Yeah the titles had left me wondering the same thing...I actually wished they had kept it only 13 eps a season so they wouldn't stretch themselves so thin and have filler eps.

Well I finally got a copy of this episode (ARRRGHHH PEOPLE) snacky if you're completly desperate I can send you a link I think this was one of the most lighthearted episodes ever of Murdoch Mysteries. It was adorable to say the least. Was I the only one who thought Emily seemed a little off? She seemed rather I donno-dull? I kind of agree with Edna-some of the jokes were rather tacky. And I'm sorry, George and Henry made an adorable Brackenried and Murdoch. Don't even get me started on that last scene. The Adorbs meter shot though the roof!

I got the impression from a tweet by Yannick that the whoopee cushion part of the last scene was ad lib. I thought it seemed more like Yannick/Helene than William/Julia. Whatever, it's priceless! The best part of the whole ep.

The best part of the whole ep. Here's the question and answer: @yannick_bisson was totally laughing for real in that last scene. Allso did @helene_Joy even know the whoppie cushion was there? @yannick_bisson @stephanie14e @cbcmurdoch @helene_Joy I was a tad shocked that it worked so well, not a scripted line

My explanation for Emily is she found out that George had moved on with Edna and they were quite happy together. I'm guessing in the show so far there's been no Lemily lovin' , assuming that even happens at all.
