So, besides my stepmother, guess who else us a fan of "The Artful Detective?" My 85 year old step grandmother! We were going out to dinner when she said she wanted to be back in time for one of her favorite programs, and proceeded to tell me what a wonderful show it was! Of course, I told her that I'd seen it, and we talked about it. My grandfather even enjoys it-even if it isn't a Western! So, despite the lack of marketing, it does seem to be gathering an audience, just not a lot of buzz. Do tell how she discovered it? Was it word of mouth from your stepmother? Channel surfing in the general direction of Ovation? Does she have other friends who actually know of/watch this show? I'm eager for hints on how to spread the gospel! It wasn't my stepmom, because she was surprised when I told her later that evening, but I'm not sure how she discovered it either. I'm guessing channel surfing, but I'll ask next time I talk to her.

Well they obviously don't *get* MM. It's a police procedural isn't it after all it is called Murdoch MYSTERIES not Murdoch Romance, why would it have all this romance stuff in it? They need someone to sit down and watch a few eps, better still a few seasons, to see what it really is and I doubt anyone has actually done that. I wouldn't trust them with it even if they did. Christine Jennings should have some "edit integrity" team to oversee foreign syndication butcheries. Whilst syndication means a larger audience I suspect once it goes to syndication you give up control. Six of one, half dozen of the other....

The people who buy the program should look at it as in their own interest to understand why the show is popular and appreciate the expertise of the people who create/produce it. This isn't a matter of control so much as preserving what is good about the show so it will attract an audience and thus benefit the people who syndicate it more.

As long as they can sell ads and given the times it seems to be broadcast they're probably not looking at expensive ads so 'who cares!' Other than the people that watch it that is!!

This is true: the episode I watched actually had an ad for "The Clapper"! I suspect MM was bought quite cheaply as a filler. They really don't know what they have and given it's popularity in other countries it's saddening to see it treated with such disdain. They don't deserve it.

After showing The Prince and The Rebel Twice, the US Syndication (KRON 4 California) skipped Annoying Red Planet - awwwwwww. That's the episode that defines MM as the anti-X-Files!
Because Mild, Mild West was shown out of order, earlier in the season, the episode now is Snakes and Ladders. Wondering how much ship they will cut out of this one. Whatever they leave in will certainly be confusing and sudden!
On the bright side, the last dance scene with Julia was cut out. I guess that's okay with me since I'm not a big fan of the "I just need to be held" line.

If they keep cutting out the shippy stuff by the time they get to HMM! everyone will wonder where that came from! Shaking head as usual....

Fallenbelle was right about the character development scenes being at the end - at that being considered an "irrelevant" part that could be cut. Unfortunately, those cuts are painful when viewed from the perspective of the whole series. I'm just grateful the episode where William got the tickets to the Dinosaur Ball came before he went to the Dinosaur Ball...

They did a bit of butchering the second time but nowhere near as bad as the first time. Perhaps someone actually watched the series between the two airings and found the scenes important to the later plot lines.

It's possible I'm literally the only one who watches MM at 1am Monday morning, though. I should wait for KRON to move the show to a better time before barraging them with complaints.

Not sure but the MM FB page seems to be CBC run and they do monitor the other pages and there were plenty of complaints especially about the way the shows suddenly ended with no wrap up, most disconcerting.

I doubt the cuts will be the same, every channel has it's own timeframe for commercials so will probably be doing their own editing. Shame they don't watch the whole season before editing to see what storylines they're butchering.
