I still think William is on a mission to be More Romantic and make a few Grand Gestures. Along the way he might pick up some love name...though "Mrs. Murdoch" will certain do at first! I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out. Hey as long as Peter Mitchell is dangling fan service in front of us, I expect to see some interestingly titled books lying around the Murdoch sitting room. with bookmarks

Yeah it's best to just to get photobucket accounts and post our pics from there. The mp4 download worked - William looked so crestfallen! He must be thinking about whether that's what Julia wanted, that he never gave...

And he certainly knows how to tell Julia he loves her and to pay her a compliment. He might have a secret love name that remains...a secret!

Such confidence! It's about time he had as much self assuredness in his personal life as he does in his job.

Yes, that confidence and that heavenward eye roll during the "carriage speech" sort of makes you think he's had some practice.

Perhaps he was just faking it, in his head, though as Brackenreid advised.

William has never used any type of pet name for Julia, they're not in his vocabulary. I don't think Julia's ever used a pet name for William either. I seem to remember in one of the episodes Darcy called Julia darling and William gave him a look. I don't think he's comfortable with pet names, he's probably never been been called, or used one, in his life. IMHO that might be an argument in favor of the Virgin Theory since they were still being all Victorian and Proper. OMG, I have to find that scene where Darcy calls Julia "darling"! I want to see William shoot darts of fire in Darcy's general direction! Since then William has learned to be a little more romantic though. I do have trouble picturing him using a pet name - in fact "pet" name is probably the wrong way to put it since I'm sure he wants to maintain his respect for Julia at all times. "Pet" sounds patronizing. If he did use a "love name" (a code word!), it would not indicate possession or Julia's submission to him in any way (*pretends "Mrs. Murdoch" doesn't do that*). But I think he would want to be romantic and indicate Julia is special and that he loves her. William has gotten better at issuing those little pronouncements over the years! Anyway, if Darcy got to call Julia a "love name", it seems like William would want that privilege, too. Nom, nom, nom, my scrumptious little cupcake...
Just kidding.
He calls her "milady" in season 7, and I've used beloved in a few fics, but I can't see them using anything else. Or I can't see William using anything else-Julia might get pretty cheeky though.

Ooh - Milady - I remember that! hmm, that works with William's style since it's so formal. I'm not sure "beloved" does, though. I can't see "beloved" off-hand, but I don't remember being thrown by it in any of your fics either, so it might depend on the context/flow.

To me, it's super proper yet intimate, and if he would use one (not entirely convinced he would), I think it would be that-or something like it.

Librarian was on my list of "going back to school" possibilities - but it sort of went by the wayside because I didn't want to get an online degree (otherwise I'd have to move) and the job prospects were very poor, particularly for people who fit the traditional "librarian" profile (me). Oh well. But yeah, I am the "librarian" type in oh so many ways. You don't think William will get a little more lovey dovey as time goes on...? William has never used any type of pet name for Julia, they're not in his vocabulary. I don't think Julia's ever used a pet name for William either. I seem to remember in one of the episodes Darcy called Julia darling and William gave him a look. I don't think he's comfortable with pet names, he's probably never been been called, or used one, in his life. There was a fic where Darcy kept calling her darling and I thought that was so weird but then I watched some of those eps and he calls her that more than once.
