Peter Mitchell posted this on FB the other day. We've caught several of the references but I don't know all of these movies well enough to catch them in the show.

References include A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street, The Shining, It's a Wonderful Life, The Grinch that Stole Christmas, A Christmas Story, The Little Match Girl, Frosty the Snowman, A Charlie Brown Christmas, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, The Hockey Sweater and probably a few more I can't recall... The whole connection with the Krampus movie was a happy accident.
Anybody willing to help me out?
A Christmas Carol- Margaret calling Thomas "Ebeneezer", Robert Kratchet, the crippled boy Miracle on 34th Street- Kris Kringle 'delusion' The Little Match Girl- the play It's a Wonderful Life- George on the bridge How the Grinch Stole Christmas- "the Lynch who stole Christmas"
I'll add another one..."Woman of the house" comes from a lovely movie called "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
The Santa Clause: the scene where Kris Kringle is being asked to tell them his REAL name. I immediately thought of Tim Allen responding, in an Ed Sullivan voice, "Topo Gigio"!

I've decided I'm going to end my busy day rewatching The Christmas Caper. Got my peppermint bark to nibble on and I have discovered that Gingerbread Kahlua is an excellent addition to egg nog (in my Bloody Hell mug)!! I need to go shopping.

OMG! - I just noticed that 'A Merry Murdoch Christmas' will be aired in Finland in two parts on 28th and 29th December. I was certain we would have to wait until next Christmas. Now I have to hunt for a good egg nogg recipe and make an occasion of that. The usual Christmas drink in these parts is glögg (mulled wine or seasoned spirits) but I think egg nog is more suitable to enjoy with MM and maybe some crumpets as well . The division into two parts was a bit rough. The first part was the film from the beginning to the scene at the Town Hall (where the presents burst into flames) with the end credits tacked at the end - totalling about 40 mins running time. The second part began with the sleigh ride again but that scene was cut short before any dialogue and the first actual scene was the smoldering presents at Town Hall and the running time of the second part was about 50 mins. It was a bit shame that they cut it in two, but this way it fit in the normal time slot. They did the same with Downton Abbey - also that Christmas special was divided into two parts. But at least we got them both pretty soon after the first airings. I actually did enjoy the second part with egg nogg (laced with brandy) and some crumpets. Had to since even Mrs B had made egg nogg .

Peyton Kennedy, who played the young Mary Pickford, has been nominated for 2 Young Artists' Awards, one of which is for her guest appearance in MM......
