What a blast tonight! I was with about 60 fans at The Derby, a pub just south of what is still "the Junction" in Toronto. The best part...Tom and Arwen were both there, then afterwards the actress who played Carrie Nation showed up. Lots of hooting, clapping and general carrying on during the commercials but you could hear a pin drop when the show was on!
So much to laugh about...Brackenreid on a bike, John drunk, morgue humour, Carrie Nation at the Brackenreid's....
We noticed the fire hydrant right away. They existed in Toronto in 1903 but that was a modern one.
I am still not clear whodunnit. A very convoluted plot to be sure! I need to watch it again before making any more comments.

I wish I'd been able to go....I hope someone bought Carrie Nation a drink.....I trust Tom and Arwen were in good form....pictures?

I'm certain I saw her with a beverage... My phone camera doesn't like the low light. Check Pendrick Arrow and Susan Knights-Prouxl's FB pages. They both took loads of pics.

Was that a period fire hydrant? Funny, I noticed it straightaway as well. It was as visible as a...well, a fire hydrant.

And now I'm imagining Margaret going into a bar with Carrie Nation, wielding a hatchet... *grin* And thus, it was so.

Certainly not my favorite episode of the season, but a solid effort nonetheless-but I still need to rewatch it to fully appreciate it. Loved the digs at Murdoch's tee totaling, John getting drunk, return of morgue humor, and William getting talked into a drink. Which turns into several and a recreation of their absinthe fueled night at the park so long ago.

Ugh, I won't be able to see this ep for at least another day. T_T
So looking forward to William getting sloshed! Please tell me he wasn't really drinking spruce beer!
Any hints about what went on back in 1906?

Surely, you couldn't just wander around welding an axe. Nice to have Julia's morgue humour back and W/J were as cute as always. Almost every character has now been in Station 4 jail cells.

Just finished this episode.
I must say, I enjoyed this one a LOT. It's interesting, it's funny, it's cute. I felt it had a lot to recommend it.
The inspector laughing about Johnny being drunk was hilarious. I loved that!
I mean I know he's trying to be a good father and set an example and boundaries and such, but being able to make at least some joke out of it is a good way to blow off steam. Can't be serious all the time.
The bit with Margaret in the pub was great. I liked that.
The mystery itself wasn't bad. But I don't see why we needed Miss Nation in this episode. Apart from rallying the temperance folks and being the house-guest from hell, she didn't really do much. If she'd been more-implicated in the plot, then it might've been better. As it was, I don't see what she brought to the episode.

Carrie Nation was from about 30 miles from my house. She was an awful woman who believed that the root of ALL evil was liquor and the only way to stop it was to destroy it all. She was terrible because her way was the only way. They did a good job of portraying her although her accent needed a little work LOL.

You wouldn't think so would you but that is exactly what Carrie Nation did. She broke up many bars and was rarely arrested. Go figure. Canada showed her though LOL.

Didn't it end up being one of the original brawlers? The antidote discussion got a little confusing at the end, but I think that was the outcome.
