This episode was great. I loved it. It's mysterious, it's funny...I like the idea of the Pink's Detective Agency. I hope it appears in future episodes!! The lapbox and pad thing on the train...Oh God...

The lapbox and pad thing on the train...Oh God... I'm claiming that laptop joke as fan service. While Team MM previously had the joke about L.A.P.T.O.P., we've been calling George's mini-chalkboard the world's first hipster ipad...

Methinks there will have to be another compromise as in William will agree to purchase the materials while Julia will beg him to allow her to pay for some construction workers to speed the process up. Or else, this house will never be built. I suspect the building of this house is going to be another HUGE plot hole! They'll probably be living in it at the beginning of S10 despite the fact that William hadn't started building it before the end of S9 and there will have been one of those looong Canadian winters. There's always a gap of time between seasons. William also has access to more resources to build their dream house now. On the other hand, the half-built house could also be the scene of a mystery. I question what the set builders will do now that everyone has seen the model of the house and will have certain expectations of its design.

Freddie was like a mixture of Julia and Emily. The actress was too young to be playing a woman in her early 40's, I recognised her from Shades of Grey. Though we're obviously going to see her again, and Freddie better not fall in love with William. That would be annoying. Julia being her brilliant self again, by blackmailing that racist scumbag official. Rebecca can go far with her smarts and Julia championing her. Finally W/J will have a house! Aww at the shared workshop so they can be a geek couple at home. So cute. Did anyone else think Freddie looks a lot like Lillian? There are far too many boater hats going on - it's starting to make all the female characters look alike. Totally agree that it would be annoying if there was any sort of flirtation between Freddie and William. That's already been done with Dr. Bajjali. I was sorry that Dr. Bajjali died because it was fun to see William squirm around her. And of course there is always Eva attempting to drive a wedge between William and Julia. It would be fresh to see William maintaining female friendships while Julia remains confident in their relationship.

I have to admit that I was a bit confused by the Singer murder until I watched it a second time. I think I was too distracted by young William carrying a ruler and magnifying glass on a camping expedition, not to mention his using the Pythagorean theorem as the right way to pitch a tent.
Loved the lap board. I got the impression that George gave it to him.
George must be thinking that William really needs a blackboard wherever he is... Didn't he also give a blackboard as a wedding gift? And George would be right about that! He's more observant than William about people.

What happened to the gold? If Dobson had it then why was he still a police constable with such wealth. lol that he left a coin behind, too! Even if he was in a hurry originally, he could have gone back to double-check at any time. Maybe he was saving it for retirement: investing it in a town house somewhere. Singer didn't exactly live a life of luxury, either.

I loved the house and rather than think his reticence uncharacteristic, I thought it appropriate. He's always been a bit unsure of their class differences, and while Julia has said the money is theirs, this is still a quite traditional man who wants to provide for his wife. He wants her to have a house worthy of her, and the only way he can provide this is through building it himself. He can design it, and build it, but will she love it? I thought it was quite apropos. Of course he got laid right after that. Once again Fallenbelle has put my thoughts into words. The only time William is unsure of himself is with Julia. The house is important to him, and Julia has to love it. He's designed it without her input and hopes she approves. To be honest I think she'd like anything that William builds, or does, for her because she knows he does it out of love. Has anyone noticed that William has a special face for adorkable William - it's almost a Vaudeville look. It's a bit mannered - the same face he had while waiting for Julia to sit on the whoopee cushion. Also, though everyone denies Yannick uses eyeliner, it seems like he might use eyeliner on his lower lids for these scenes - which part of what gives these scenes the "mannered" look - sort of like a painted mime face.

Then who had been maintaining the tracking marks? Plot hole. I wonder if yet another explanation scene was cut from an episode. The writers need to tidy up the plot holes that are popping up a little too regularly this season. Still, an enjoyable episode to watch. Though I'm missing Higgins, he's been gone for three episodes. I agree plot holes are a problem: suspension of disbelief doesn't cover structural inconsistencies for me. That said, I have less of a problem with this plot hole than some of the others because it's not an inconsistency - it's just an unknown. We can come up with an explanation. If the marks were maintained, Dobson and Singer might have had an agreement to leave the gold there until the blackmail notes started arriving. Then they hastily took the gold out but didn't spend it yet because they were under suspicion. Perhaps it's all sitting in the Sheriff's office, and it wasn't discussed at the end because it was just assumed the gold would be recovered now that the guilty parties were established.

I wasn't clamoring for them to have been former lovers or anything like that, but I was hoping that there may have been a first kiss between the two of them...maybe future episodes will give some backstory. I still contend that William has always had a thing for strong, opinionated women, and I think Miss Pink may have been an early crush... I too am looking forward to more Miss Pink, but I just don't know that I buy her as a love interest for George. I think if MM wants to go for the "taboo", George and Rebecca would be more interesting. I agree that interest in Freddie may have set a bit of a pattern for William. This makes me curious about the dead Liza... I agree that George shouldn't date the (much older) Freddie. He's great with Edna - let him pine after her for a while. George/Rebecca would be interesting, but I wouldn't want them to have a relationship just for the sake of making a political statement. That can be done with one date. In fact, a one-off date could be done with Henry. I can see Henry trying to clean up his act to win Rebecca's respect. However, I still think Henry is destined to be the plaything of a rich widow...

True, considering she didn't like him getting hit over the head with a pipe and nearly dying a few months back. I was also quite surprised William was gonna go himself...not even take George or a gun or anything. NOW who's being reckless? Which just makes him lecturing Freddie about being reckless that much more nonsensical. Maybe William had total faith in Freddie's ability to protect him, hahaha.

Freddie isn't that much older than George, he is about mid-30's these days, and Freddie must be about William's age (41-42). But I don't think they should be love interests. I'd prefer MM somehow brought Edna back in the future, or gave George a more suitable match with someone similar to Edna or even bring Tess back for him, she'd suit him.

Also, was it just me, or did anyone else giggle when they kept repeating "pitching a tent".

And there seemed to be plenty of bedrooms, even though THAT room was not mentioned... Arg what room am I forgetting? If people are referring to a child's room, I did note there was 2 adjoining bedrooms. That did make me wonder where guests would sleep if they started having/adopting children. Perhaps William invents the sofa bed.
