I think some people saw this in the preview scene, but, IMHO, it didn't play out that way in the show. I liked that Julia seemed confident enough in William to allow him to hang out with other women alone: "jealous Julia" has been done with Eva, and if Julia were jealous of all women, it would be a terrible cliche and undermine her independence. I never thought Julia was jealous of Eva, annoyed perhaps that she was too interested in her love interest/now husband. I agree I never saw Eva as a figure to be jealous of just as an antagonist that tries to do them harm.

Already love Freddie Pink! That beautiful smile on the train ride in her last scene - can't wait to see more from her! I think she and Rebecca James are going to be very interesting characters to have around this season. After the death of Lillian and Emily's departure, it will be nice to see some new intelligent and strong female characters in their places. Certainly would much rather see more of Freddie than the super annoying Ruby Ogden.
Very nice episode - well written, I thought, with some very solid performances across the board. Yannick makes a very good cowboy, I think! Pity they couldn't work in some bicycling - which makes me wonder: where is he going to store the bicycles at the new house? LOL

Even in the 19th-century, that might have led to questions of Julia's dispassionate professional judgment.

Even in the 19th-century, that might have led to questions of Julia's dispassionate professional judgment. No, it wasn't jealousy, it was disgust and anger at Eva and the way she is. Julia knows Eva is dangerous and that was what that reaction was about. Julia has only ever shown amusement, disgust, and anger over Eva when she's flirted with William or made her delusional comments.

I liked Julia's original response (in Murdoch in Ladies Wear) a lot better: it really showed confidence in her relationship with William. She had his number! I also felt that in MiLW, Eva had managed to seduce William a bit despite himself - which created a frission of danger about her. In The Incurables, this dynamic was completely different, and it reduced Eva's stature as a "nemesis" a bit for me. It seemed weird for Julia to lose her cool over a woman who is locked behind bars and whom she has ultimate power over - which is why I have to chalk it up to some unconscious fear bubbling up. At the same time, William was now just disgusted by Eva's flirtations: no danger there.

I don't remember hearing that - but I have kids and sometimes they don't realize I'm watching MM. I have heard a lot of people who are into bikes refer to their collections as their stable but don't know that I've heard Murdoch use a specific term for it. As near as I can tell, he's like me and has a "stable" of one. This raises another question for me: why have we not seen Julia riding a bicycle? Cycling was very popular for women in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and Susan B Anthony once stated "The bicycle has done more for emancipation for women than anything else in the world". Given Julia's association with the suffrage movement and her independent spirit I would have thought she would have been on a wheel of her own by now.

Hello! I found the last discussion between Freddie PINK and William very interesting. Indeed I'm curious to know the true resaon why Freddie PINK wants to open her agency in TORONTO. It's obvious that she has to leave MONTREAL even if she denied to be in trouble. Moreover, she accepted William's help for the future. I wonder if she'll need his help just for her future cases and/or because of her past activites in MONTREAL. William seemed to be worried about her idea of working in TORONTO. Is he afraid of competition? About the Dr OGDEN's fight against the racial discrimination: Dr OGDEN is a character that I like very much from the beginning and Hélène JOY is a good actress. I could feel how hard it was -especially for a woman- to stand up against a such injustice. I liked the influence that Dr OGDEN had on the Inspector BRACKENREID -it's as though she was his wife- to get some informations to defend her assistant, Miss Rebecca JAMES. The way she said "tell me what you know" was enough for him to decide to cooperate. I would even say he had no other choices. The entire scene made me smile. And I also thought that she was good at blackmailing. Échec et mat, M. RICHMOND! I noticed that since Dr OGDEN was back to the morgue and since George CRABTREE was demoted, the group dynamics has been restored. YES!

Maybe given Helene Joy's cycling history (she broke her wrist falling off her bike during season 8), the producers don't want to risk it......

They could show Julia walking her bike after a ride with William.

Given Julia's association with the suffrage movement and her independent spirit I would have thought she would have been on a wheel of her own by now. The very first time we saw Julia, in Power, ep 101, she was walking her bicycle with William into Allen Gardens. She was also wearing riding attire, her bike in the background, when she was doing breathing exercises with some ladies, presumably at the hospital (early in the series but I can't remember which ep). The biggest problem with having both W/J on bikes is filming and sound. Those logistics would be a nightmare. It is interesting though how she has seemingly abandoned a very forward thinking mode of transport.
