This raises another question for me: why have we not seen Julia riding a bicycle? Cycling was very popular for women in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and Susan B Anthony once stated "The bicycle has done more for emancipation for women than anything else in the world". Given Julia's association with the suffrage movement and her independent spirit I would have thought she would have been on a wheel of her own by now. The very first time we saw Julia, in Power, ep 101, she was walking her bicycle with William into Allen Gardens. She was also wearing riding attire, her bike in the background, when she was doing breathing exercises with some ladies, presumably at the hospital (early in the series but I can't remember which ep). The biggest problem with having both W/J on bikes is filming and sound. Those logistics would be a nightmare. It is interesting though how she has seemingly abandoned a very forward thinking mode of transport. We have seen William and George riding bikes together so I don't think it would be any worse to film W/J riding together. Btw, I think you mean the scene in Let Loose the Dogs.

I have to admit that my shipper heart and brain keep track of the W/J relationship as one, pulling scenes between them out of the episodes so I loose context because I track each episode by its mystery.

They have also filmed characters interacting in carriages, open top automobiles and an aeroplane. If they can do that, a few scenes of William and Julia or perhaps Emily and Lillian cycling together shouldn't be that difficult. I had forgotten the scene at the beginning of Power. Again, I wonder why no scenes of central lady characters riding?

Julia has referenced playing tennis ( Still Waters), swimming (Houdini Whodunnit) and we saw her play basketball in Victor, Victorian, but her cycling has only ever been referenced in S1. Very curious indeed now that I think of it. The fanfic that has been rattling around in my brain for years revolves around a Sunday afternoon bicycle ride and a picnic...very in character for William and Julia IMHO.

So, I just finished rewatching this, and initially, I was disappointed that William didn’t have his first kiss at the Young Scholars’ Camp in 1875. But upon rewatching I noticed this: William: “I was pitching the tent.” Freddie: “I was poking fun at you, pitching the tent.” It’s important to note that she was giggling when she says that. What exactly did those two crazy kids get up to that summer?

I don't think I watched any episode more than once this season (even the wedding), but a little more innuendo-spotting might inspire me.

All in all nice episode. Sort of looking forward to seeing more of Pink in future episodes. Maybe one off's or something-like the Pendrick/Myers ones. Thank goodness this didn't screw up my timeline at all. I was a tad nervous it would. Can I have a spin off series entitled Ogden Investigations? I mean seriously. YOU GO JULIA! Few questions on the house: Where are they going to find the land for it? That's not (the horror) 30 minutes from their workplaces. And William dear, you have a tendency to literally drop everything in the pursuit of a murderer. When are you going to find the time and still do geeky things and generally be adorkable (especially with your wife) That's a fairly ambitious house for a first time home builder. Not that I have any doubts here at all, but how long do you think it might possibly take to build taking in the account of the Canadian winter? YES!!! Ogden Investigations! It could be a cross between Quincy M.E. and Hart to Hart. Then I could get a satisfying Julia fix without fastforwarding through old Murdoch episodes to see her.

I grew up in an area of Toronto that would fit the bill perfectly. It's known as Hoggs Hollow, a little valley just east of Yonge Street and south of York Mills Road that has the Don River meandering through it. The road leading in is right beside a building from 1860, once known as the York Mills Hotel. (That fanfic rattling around my head is set there too.) The property William showed Julia at the end of Great Balls of Fire Part 2 looks over the Don River and is nothing but fields. There were still fields when I was growing up. (Just for the record, I am certain that was NOT the Don River in GBF2; it looks more like the Grand River that runs through Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo.)

If they used the Hoggs Hollow area, they could incorporate the Radial Railway which ran up Yonge Street at that time.....I came across a picture of it right in that area a couple of days ago....I'll try to find it.....

Here we go: www.trainweb.org/oldtimetrains/radial/Metro/history.htm Eventually it went up to Lake Simcoe...
