Right now, I'm trying to think how this episode could possibly relate to the movie of the same title. Hopefully, it does not.

From the cbc.ca program guide for January 18, 2016: "Murdoch suspects an ambitious Arctic explorer is hiding information about a crewmember's death."

This is going to be interesting. Roland in the morgue....not the best place for a baby. They definitely need a nanny, or William could invent the playpen. Laughing out loud at the way William held the baby.

It always amazes me that people on FB and in fanfic think William would be a great father. I've always suspected that despite the fact he wants a close knit family he has no idea what that entails or how to actually be a father, he really doesn't have a good example to follow. Whilst we have seen him be pretty good around children previously they've always been older. Perhaps when he said not this way he meant he'd like to adopt an older child.

Completely agree with this assessment. Just pop an 8 year old in and voila, perfect family. I think William has failed to distinguish between having a family and the development of one. Wouldn't surprise me if he has never pictured himself with a pregnant wife or holding a baby.

I think I agree with this. William has many excellent qualities, but being a father raising an infant is not one of them.
I can see the Family Brackenreid coming to his regular assistance on this level.

Give him to me....." then muttering, "Bloody useless..."
