There is a book called "The Virgin cure" by Ami Mckay. It takes place in New York at the turn of the century. It's about poor young (12-14) girls turning to prostitution. While most of it is fiction there is a real life character called Dr. Sadie who is the "brothel doctor". She actually existed. Even though she was from a well off family she choose to work in the poor area of NY. Would that not be an interesting twist for Julia to take?

Yes I think we will see Darcy a lot but I posted something in general news about the time machine episode and surely , William is gonna disrupt the future if he goes to the past. That may have an effect on season 6 then. I based my ideas on what happened is Stargate SG1 when they decided to go backward in time and they had to b careful not to touch anything or it could affect the future. I think William will go to the past to get infos on a case and somehow affect the future even on a personal level without wanting it. A positiv change by the way for him and Julia. A girl can dream , right!!! lol

They could end up no longer married even if he's still in it though. Just because he's in the ep doesn't mean they're still together by then. They could also no longer be married in S6. We really don't know. But I do think the time machine will turn out to be a dream.

Yes , u r right that its not a sci-fi show but the time machine is puzzling me. Is he gonna use it to solve a crime perhaps. May be as u said Hannikan, its just a dream but why a dream like that? The first movie on the time machine was made a long time ago and it looks exactly the same or similar to the one we see William in. Anyway, I love the 2 photos on the board, They r there to speculate and its fun but I agree that its not as it seems. We saw it on the red planet that they all thought it was a UFO (except William) but in fact, it was purely an airship of that time.

Well, maybe someone has claimed to have a working time machine and he gets inside it. Then he imagines what it would be like if it worked. I really don't know. We'll just have to see.

Well, just saw stroll on the wild side part 2 and I am a bit disappointed. I was taping it and I only saw until Emily said "Swan" to Georges!!!!! Don't know why it didn't tape the whole episode. Hope I didnt miss anything crucial!!!!! Let me know If I did.

Anyway, I didnt think much of that part 2 at all. Julia with her great storyline was 2nd best. She was doing a greater good but the writers thought it was really funny to concentrate on Anna storyline, wich was not of greater good but just about her and her safety. Dont understand why but that is what we got!!!!!!!. I thought she was dead at the end but she was not because Julia was kind enough to cover it up and then Anna can get undercover again and escape without arm although she got shot at the end of the baseball match~!!!!.
I was glad to see that Julia was there at the baseball match and tried to have some fun in her life. Bet she misses that with her life with Darcy!!! I cant believe we saw them in their own dining room sitting at the opposite end of that huge table. Remember me of that french film called "Le petit poucet" (Sorry , I am french, so I related it to horrible movies that I have seen in the past) where the wife and husband had no love relationship whatsoever and were sitting at the opposite , I also saw that in the name of the roses with Michael Douglas and Katleeen Turner where they used to ate each other and sitting ay opposite end when they were eating) ..

.....OMG, I feel so sorry for Julia now. I dont think she knew what she was going for when she got married to Darcy , plus him telling her that he didnt like what she was doing about contraception thingie!!!!!.


I think part 2 was lame compared to part 1 . I thought it would have been so much better and I expected so much more!!!.

The writers should have spent so much more time about the greater good than the ridiculous Anna storyline anyway. I kind of feel cheated a bit.!!!!


I know that Anna have to leave again but please dont make her come back, its lame for another storyline. She is not Julia and far from being as intelligent. she wants adventure and fun with William and thats all but William is not cut out for that.
The writers tried to make Julia hypersensitive in that episode. She even went to see Station 4 baseball game because she is so bored with Darcy who said to her that she couldnt come to his next due because bla,,bla,,bla ....cant remember what he said now but he bores me anyway. Please Julia, get away from that life and have some fun.....with William if possible!!!!!

I am not too happy about the editing of that episode. a bit all over the shop.
I think too much was devoted to the Anna Arch and certainly not enough to the Julia's protest which was far most interesting.

I hope there is a reason behind that and that next week, we will see Julia's storyline with the contraception takes form and that William will take part in it big time or I think I wil be losing hope for that great ship in some many ways either romantic or forensic, I miss it dearly and I dont like writers to play games with Fans.

I have seen it in so many shows that it tires me and I am not even bothered to buy DVD at the end. It happens to me for X-files and Stargate SG1 . Never bought the last 2 seasons DVD's because the writers have messed the whole thing up.Dont know why but they did!!!! Hope it wont happen to MM?!!!

I know there are new writers on MM this season and they'd better watch out coz the editing of Stroll on the wild side 2 was pretty bad, unlike what we have seen so far during the first 4 seasons. Something is not right, may be, the distribution on the 2 storylines in that 2 parter but it went wrong according to me...somehow!!!!

Please to the writers , just deal with only one story per episode unless u can handle 2 per episode, but its not the case so far.!!!

Shame coz MM used to b great until season 4 . I even liked season 4 because there was one murder case and one backtrack story (Julia/William/Darcy) but now it looks like the writers want to mix the murders (William) and Julia's storyline (emancipation+ Darcy) as another subject . So if they dont mix them all back together with William, murder, Julia, emancipation, it will never work.

The show , so far is very dismantled so far and I dont like the dynamic anymore even with Thomas and George, it was real strange in that episode!!!

I think I kind of not like it that much at the mo.Shame though, coz I was very interested to see tonight's episode and I thought it was a bit boring.
I Think I probably saw Anna too much in the last 2 episodes and she got on my nerves at the end because I then realised how much more intelligent Julia was!!!!

Anyway, What do u think??? This is my opinion and I thought the episode would and could have been so much better. I liked the Julias scene ( not many in total by the way!!!! ) . I think she now realised the mistake she had made but I feel sad for her because she didnt know what was coming up her way. I hope she will have fun with William again soon but with the writers and their stupid, stubborn mind where they think it's better to leave them at "Won' t they, will they"!!!!! Not sure we will ever see something great and meaningful between William and Julia.

I just hope the new writers are not gonna ruin the end of the show. I havent bought the DVD's yet. I am taping everything on Sky but I will not buy the dvd's if season 5 does not get better. part 1 of stroll on the wild side was good by the way but part 2 should have had 70 % Julia storyline and not 30%.. that was wrong.

I am concerned about next week's epidose now. Is Julia in it at all and what about her quest!!!! is it gonna b mentionned at all!!! and I quite like Emily now but please can we not hear of Anna ever again, she is better to go for her adventure on her own and discover the world by herself.

I honestly think it was pretty good. It was action-packed, fast-paced, moving and very interesting.

I wasn't too keen on the whole thing with the Mafia and the deal and whatever it was that Murdoch did, and faking Anna's death and all that. The Mafia has played underhand and dirty for over a hundred years. And yes, it is the Mafia. The Black Hand is just another euphamism. Just like "La Cosa Nostra".

Personally I would've preferred it if Murdoch had convinced the man wholly, that Anna posed no threat to their organisation and they agreed to leave it at that, honour or no honour. Because Anna really didn't pose any kind of threat at all.

This "Jake" character is pretty interesting. I think he could become a regular fixture as a police informant.

The beginning and ending were both good.

@caty, no you didn't miss anything. George just thought another line or so to his story and then it was over. So does this mean that he's going to become a romance writer now?

i liked it too. but i also agree that faking her death was a little over the top. i suppose this was the only reason that Julia was even at the baseball game. i feel like the only reason that they did this was so Murdoch could get (fake) angry and punch someone out. not that i'm complaining. ;D

I've always been a bit confused about the whole Black Hand group. I know that this version is early mafia but there was also a Black Hand that participated in the triggering event of WWI. Are they the same group or does the name just happen to be the same?

anyways, here's hoping that they don't bring back her character once again. enough's enough. I'm a bit surprised that the idea that Julia was the reason that Murdoch wouldn't leave didn't come up at all when Anna and George were discussing it.

and i'm a bit annoyed that they are forcing this Emily/George relationship. especially when i doubt Emily will even be there by the end of the season.

oh and i loved the (not so) hidden meaning behind Julia saying, "I'm perfectly happy with the arrangement, Darcy." in relation to the garden party. clearly, the writers are talking about their marriage.

I don't think William would have been able to convince Falcone that Anna was not a threat. It wouldn't be up to Falcone to decide that anyway. She is a marked woman and once you're on the list, that's it. I was pretty shocked William agreed to do a turn for the Black Hand though. That's very dangerous territory. It's good he realized that he'd have to fake her death to ensure her safety and to prevent himself from still needing to owe the Black Hand. Of course, that can't be the end of it. At some point, The Black Hand will find out that Anna isn't actually dead. And then William will really be in a bind because they'll come after him, too. It shows how much William does care for Anna that he did all that but if he loved her like he does Julia, he would have gone with her.

As I expected, Darcy is becoming very unlikable as he has become the head of the hospital. He's being controlling in addition to pushing her away. That marriage is not going to stay in tact and will only get more uncomfortable and antagonistic as time goes on. Eventually something will happen to break it apart. I agree that the symbolism of the distance across the large table was great. It was also great juxtaposed against Anna and William being physically close and emotionally/mentally close through the jail bars.

I thought it was a great episode overall. I thought Mr. Coville (Lucille's husband) was going to be orchestrating the seductions. It was a twist that it was the choir director. The silhouette of the man who grabbed Lucille looked smaller than the choir director though. And the hat being like Falcone's was good at throwing me off.

I agree that the Emily-George relationship feels forced. I think she's going to do something that he won't approve of and that will be the end of it. I think she will do something very radical that even Julia won't support. It may not happen until S6 though. It's too bad because all the other women he's had an attraction to, there has been such great chemistry. I hope Ruby will return in S6. This season has been needing her but I know the actress hasn't been available.

yeah, when you think about it, it really doesn't make ANY sense that Falcone would buy her death for a second. He knew that he himself didn't order the hit and the likelihood of some third party just happening to shoot her right before he could discuss his associate with Murdoch, is rather small. Even if Falcone believed that someone within his own organization, who was higher up than him, ordered the hit without his knowledge, he'd know that this wasn't the case as soon as he checked into it. and i agree that if he truly loved Anna, he would have gone with her.

I hope Ruby will return in S6. This season has been needing her but I know the actress hasn't been available.

ooh, yes please! They were the best together, IMO. Dr. Grace is like a poor Ruby wannabe.

Yeah, and even if the next we hear of Anna is a message to William saying she's been killed, William's life is now in danger because he killed one of their operatives. He's now going to be hunted down by the Black Hand. If Falcone lets this slide or fails after a certain length of time to have them both executed, he'll be killed by the Black Hand. It's a horrible, vicious cycle. Event hat poor kid, Jake is probably in danger now for his part in William and Anna's scheme. Falcone knows he was involved. He doesn't know about Julia's part, so she's not in danger. In a symbolic way, now William and Julia have committed themselves to some very serious entanglements that could have severe consequences.

The Darcy-Julia marriage is falling apart. This episode was proof if ever there was any needed. I won't say anymore than that.
