Very true. The Inspector's very physical methods have made me squirm several times but I think that bulldog style of policing was common in those days. William and Brackenreid really do epitomize the polarity of policing styles. In that last episode Brackenreid finally acknowledged that brains probably were better than brawn when it comes to crime solving. Let's hope he's able to keep that in mind when it comes to getting that dock gang. Yes, in fact I marvel at how MM portrays that while maintaining it's trademark quirky style. It makes a great foil for William's methods, but it also sets up some potential for later conflict. Nice dramatic set up! I think Brackenreid will be re-assessing his brains vs. brawn insight on a rolling basis as he encounters the increasing scale of violence with very limited police resources. Again, I can't wait to see what MM does with this.  |

If, as you suppose, Thomas doesn't get paid while he recovers, there won't be enough in the coffers for all that gadding about. They'll just have to stay home and find new ways to get frisky...maybe opera dress-up?

Why is the Julia Ogden character just so awful?!? I really was enjoying the show, and it was so nice when she got married off to Darcy. Thought the show would be great, especially with a romance between Murdoch and Anna Fulford. Could have been sweet. Instead we have insipid, always right, prissy white girl Dr. Ogden. She can have an abortion, she can have pre-marital sex, she can get married, and have a temper tantrum because Darcy won't give her an annulment -- after SHE chose Darcy over Murdoch. Talk about entitled white girl privilege. The whole show has started to reek of it! It's so annoying and so distracting. Why should Murdoch have to give up on his religous beliefs to be with this self-righteous, prissy b**ch. It's this fairy-tale, privileged white girl existence that is at the heart of sooo much that is wrong with the world.

Confused by why you're singling out Julia's skin colour. I know this is a S7 thread, but you should probably find out now- it's been 2 seasons since they got married, almost 4 seasons since Darcy was killed and 5 seasons since Anna 'The Other White Girl' Fulford left. You might consider letting it go before you get any deeper into it. |
