Oh he did flat out lie to Julia! He told her he liked coffee! So I'm guessing that you're right. lol, yes he did. That's a brilliant way to write a love a scene. Not something sappy like: "There wasn't a moment when I haven't loved her...blah, blah, blah.". lol yeah and it didn't even make sense!

Not something sappy like: "There wasn't a moment when I haven't loved her...blah, blah, blah.". lol yeah and it didn't even make sense! To me that's all the difference between dramatic writing (presenting a creative scene) and fan service (reproducing some fanfic cliche so shippers can sigh "ooooh, the writers hear us, they really do hear us..." But in the end, lying about the coffee showed that William was trying to spend time with and impress Julia: shipping mission accomplished.

“Carry on Murdoch” "My best man"
Perhaps it’s time for us to start putting together a few new words for him to use later, just in case. Not that he needs our help enhancing his very colorful vocabulary.

I think that may have been "fannin' around" William replied "Fanny, sir?" What episode was that, I'll have to check it out because Fanny around doesn't make sense but fannin' does. Perhaps William misheard. Fanning around is basically messing about.
