It's high time for our favourite Inspector to get some love from the fans. I thought it might be fun to collect his fav expressions and/or the ones we find most amusing. Here we go:
"Murdoch!"
"Bloody hell"
"Me old mucker" - anybody know what that word really is?
"Be careful when you go dancing Murdoch. There are some people who don't like their toes being stepped on".
"Crabtree!"
"Higgins!"
"What do I always say? Follow the money."
"Mandrakes, eh?"
There are so many more...let's hear them!

Buggalugs or Buggerlugs. I've never been too sure what he's saying there.
Whenever he calls Stockton a prick under his breath.
When he kept saying screwing machine over and over again in that S7 episode.
Oh and of course, "Listen here, sunshine..."

Bugalugs is supposedly an Australian term similar to "mate" but apparently has more off-color uses that I don't think Brackenreid would apply to George.

I highlighted this in rapid succession in my funnies vid. I think he's said Oh chuffing hell in relation to Miss Hamilton. She gets special swearing. xD Yeah, I think depending on how it is spelled it has different meanings. The urban dictionary is kind of scarring.

In the original post I allowed for funny expressions Thomas uses, even if they are one-offs. Here a a few I've picked up on my MM binge.
"Tread lightly Murdoch, or Giles will be all over us like a rash."
"Why don't you do what you do best. Step on some toes and upset people."
"Men lie Murdoch. You may not, but the rest of us bloody do."

"Men lie Murdoch. You may not, but the rest of us bloody do." Has William ever lied in the course of MM?

Well we know he can occasionally be hypocritical...but a flat out lie? Hmm, I don't know. To trick a suspect into confessing? He tricked Robert Perry by saying that Gillies had given him up. Does it count as lying if he's doing it to catch criminals? I guess so...but it's kind of a moral grey area.

Perhaps in Unfinished Business when William was distracted at the restaurant and initially tried to deny it? He didn't keep that pretense up for longer than a few seconds though. Oh oh oh...he was obviously about to lie when Higgins asked "Is the Detective in love?" in Still Waters! Maybe he makes a distinction for little white lies regarding personal matters and assuaging feelings.

Oh he did flat out lie to Julia! He told her he liked coffee! So I'm guessing that you're right.

I'll have to add this to William's Invention List. William Murdoch, Inventor of The Honorable Lie.
