... and he should have plenty of time to solve puzzles whilst recuperating from his beating. unless he's unconscious for most of it... throwing rain on the puzzle book, are we?

Reading this thread has been extremely interesting.
If some of the American or Canadians here aren't understanding Brackenreid's outbursts...
"Bairns" is Scots dialect. It basically means babies/toddlers, or children.
"Fannying around" is a polite way of saying screwing around. Wasting time. Faffing about.
"Nancy-boy/Nancies" - Homosexuals. If you want go REALLY oldschool, you could also say "Molly" ("Molly-House" = gay brothel)

Perhaps the Family Brackenreid took a few months off on vacation and sailed back to England for a holiday while Tommy was convalescing?

It's high time for our favourite Inspector to get some love from the fans. I thought it might be fun to collect his fav expressions and/or the ones we find most amusing. Here we go: "Murdoch!" "Bloody hell" "Me old mucker" - anybody know what that word really is? "Be careful when you go dancing Murdoch. There are some people who don't like their toes being stepped on". "Crabtree!" "Higgins!" "What do I always say? Follow the money." "Mandrakes, eh?" There are so many more...let's hear them! I'm surprised no one's mentioned "Let the dog see the rabbit," which he's used a couple of times in the past couple of seasons.

"My aunt Fanny!" In Me, Myself and Murdoch. I noticed a lot of Thomasisms in this episode but they are already mentioned.

Not really a Thomasisms but have you noticed Thomas Craig has given Brackenreid a promotion. He sometimes refers to himself as Chief Inspector. He does it in The Murdoch Sting and a couple of other episodes.

I'm kind of wondering whether he is going to end up as Chief Inspector this season because of the Fall of Giles...

In The Murdoch Sting I think he's puffing himself up to impress Cassie Chadwick, can't remember the other occasions off the top of my head but I thought on another he was trying to impress too. Of course it's probably just a writing error.

I do not remember that one!! Specifics pleeeeease . I remember "Let the dog see the rabbit" but can't remember when. One was in 'Murdoch Ahoy,' when he steps in to try to close the door to the flooding compartment. The other was later in Season 7, but arrrrgh, I can't remember which one right now!

Of course it's probably just a writing error. Murdoch was listed in the credits as Inspector for the first THREE seasons! Then someone finally noticed this rather glaringly obvious mistake. I get the impression that maybe in the UK, the designations are somewhat different. So perhaps this mistake was due to a collaboration error on Alibi's part.
