William replied "Fanny, sir?" What episode was that, I'll have to check it out because Fanny around doesn't make sense but fannin' does. Perhaps William misheard. Fanning around is basically messing about. I've been trying to remember! >.< All I remember is the exchange. The Inspector tells them to quit fannying around and William says, "Fanny, sir?" or maybe it's "Fannying, sir?" I'll keep an eye out for it. >.<

lol, by chance tonight's episodes with Mr. Eclair included the "Fannying" one! It was in Snakes and Ladders!
The next morning after dancing lessons, Brackenreid fills William in on what happened while he was "Fannying about". And then William says, "Fannying, sir?"

git is something rude. i learned it from harry potter. From Wikipedia: Git is mild[1] profanity with origins in British English for a silly, incompetent, stupid, annoying, senile elderly or childish person.[2] It is usually an insult, more severe than twit or idiot but less severe than wanker, arsehole or t**t.[1][3][4] Whilst I've always known the term, I am originally from England, I've never been able to put into words what it actually meant, this is a good explanation.

In earlier seasons Brackenreid's language was a lot more colorful, and he had more variation on "Bloody Hell". Perhaps they had a British member of the writing team? I hope they give him a little more language to work with this season. He kind of wore out "Bloody Hell" during Season 7.

I have to admit to loving the colourful language, kinda reminds me of my childhood. All anyone seems to say these days is the 'F word', the language is dying a slow death.

What I meant to say is Inspector B had more "reaction" phrases in earlier seasons. We all know "Bloody Hell" is his tag line now. He needs to spice it up a little.

Clearly all the booze (or 'old' age) has finally started to dull his mental faculties. But then he goes and solves a case (using a chart no less) so something doesn't add up somewhere.

LOL - excellent explanation! Perhaps doing puzzles will sharpen up his mental acuity so his vocabulary will come back.

With that level of injury his vocabulary and mental powers should exceed William's by the time he returns to Station House 4!
