Get up, stand up! Stand up for your right! We know they will be thrown in jail but do you think Julia and Emily will have a preferential treatment, a separate cell or something else? I've been thinking that William will not be able to pick up Julia, she could believe that he's really anger with her and she could refuse to be released -she is so stubborn- until Inspector SLORACH explain why he didn't come. I think it depends on how many station houses the coroner services cover. If Julia and Emily have never worked with the officers that haul them in, they will be treated like common prisoners. If William doesn't show up to try to get Julia released, I think she would be very worried about what happened to him.

Yes, but that doesn't mean Brackenreid would leave his British ideas behind just because he now lives in Canada. I meant in terms of William wearing a ring. Oh, I agree that William will probably wear a ring.

But from what I've read it wasn't all that common for any man to wear a ring until WWII-the article mentions Western men (i.e. North American and European), so William would be a little ahead of the trend in that regard, but if Julia's going to wear one, I think she'll insist William does too (hence why Darcy had one) and I would think William would love the idea-even if he might be a bit uncomfortable with wearing jewelry.

Just finished 3x13 Tesla Effect-add Pendrick to the list of the of men wearing rings. I don't know the entire backstory, but I guess count me as a shipper who wants to see with William with a ring. I think a nice piece of symbolism would be instead of William looking at an engagement ring, he now stares at his wedding band.

I bet in that case the actor just forgot to take off his own wedding ring though, lol! I agree about the symbolism, and I'm looking for a historical way to make it work. That's why I'm hoping it's something that's actually favored on the Catholic side, since the discouragement came from the association with popery.

I'm sure Brackenreid's decision not to wear the ring came from raised awareness in Britain after Prince William decided not to wear a wedding ring, and there was much fuss about it. Shortly after Prime Minister David Cameron also rejected the wedding ring. This smacks of the balance tipping against gender equality to me.

I doubt that, Thomas Craig is old enough that I'm sure he would know about not wearing a ring before it became news. Prince William wasn't married when MM started either.

It wasn't considered standard practice then, but that isn't to say that it didn't happen-it just means that it wasn't the expected norm it is now-which is why Prince William not wearing one became newsworthy-now he's in the minority. But, Pendrick deeply loved his wife, so the ring was keeping with his character, plus I suspect that modern Julia will insist that if she's wearing a symbol that marks her as taken, so will William. As for Brax, he wasn't wearing a ring for the entire run of the show, well before Prince William made news in 2011.
Pendrick and William were ahead of their time, hence their willingness to wear jewelry. But, I wrote the fic, so the whole thing should be out of my system now. It will be interesting to see what William does on the show.

Remember those (Stargate) pictures of Daniel with the Buddhist bracelet? *fans self* I think my attraction to ancient Indian culture relates to how their masculinity brought on the bling. Secret jewelry is also a good way to subvert boring Victorian norms. (no "Prince Albert" jokes, please).

Of course, she would be worried but her first reaction could be anger until she understand that he needs a doctor.
