Murdoch is called upon to investigate an exceedingly strange murder. The deceased was found inside a room locked from within with no other entrance. But there's more to the case than that – the victim appears to have exploded and burned, yet there is no trace of an explosion or fire. Before Murdoch can proceed with his investigation, the case takes a bizarre turn when old friend and world-renowned inventor Nikola Tesla appears, announcing cryptically that he is "too late."

oh no. does anyone know if Julia is coming back for the 4th season? i liked her character, i think it will be hard for them to find a suitable replacement. as long as they don't bring back Enid i won't be totally annoyed.

Personally I'm hoping that she will come back... I think that if Murdoch does follow her to Buffalo that he will run into Anna who was in "The Murdoch Identity", although I don't want him to.

i hope she comes back too. why do you think Anna would be in Buffalo? Wasn't she living in London in that episode? well, anyways, i sincerely hope she doesn't make another appearance. i didn't like her very much.

I was a bit crushed when Julia left without saying goodbye. I understand her arguements for wanting to leave, but she didn't give William much of a chance to talk things out with her. She seemed to jump to the conclusion that he would be better off with someone else. I have to wonder if she was ever really invested in the relationship...
I kind of liked Anna and since she was leaving England for New York, it seems that it's quite possible she might find her way to Buffalo. I hate to say it, because deep down I'd really like William and Julia to work things out, but Anna might be just the breath of fresh air that Murdoch needs right now.

If you remember at the end of the episode Anna was holding a train ticket to New York which she had bought with the money that Murdoch was supposed to have

Anna will be in the new series, but not sure whether as the new love interest or not. I hope not, I prefer Julia for William. Julia will be in the new series at some stage, but again, not clear if she and William will work out their differences or if she is going to give William her "blessing" in the new relationship. I suspect that it won't be she and William getting married at the end of season 4...... but I hope it isn't William and someone else. I do wonder if there is still more to the story, something else that Julia has a problem with. Even as a doctor, unless Dr Tash performed a hysterectomy to save her life, she can't really be sure that she's sterile until they actually start trying for children. Nor could she be certain that any other woman that William may choose as a wife would be any better equipped to give him the family that he craves and Julia believes he deserves than she would be. I know she wants a career, but I can't see her being on her own forever, so if she wasn't with William, might settle for someone who doesn't really care whether he has a family, and then find herself pregnant........ a sacrifice for nothing. I do wish they would write in some scenes where Julia and William actually talk to each other, have some fun, instead of being constantly reserved. There is obviously more to their relationship than walks in the park and the occasional kiss (earlier episodes suggest something more physical), so why can't some of that come out more. I know that there is this "tension" around children, but they obviously have much more going for them. Perhaps she felt that although they had an "understanding", William was holding back, didn't want to marry her? Perhaps William was holding back because of his earlier doomed engagement? Well I'm sure everything will unfold in the new series, not sure I can wait that long for the answers !!

To the previous poster that they were reserve, but in that time in history they were reserved. That is why I have problems with Julia and William being together.
Julia is from a rich Ango protestant background while William is from a poor French Catholic background. It is perfectly acceptable that Julia would flirt with William but he would not be suitable for her to marry him.
In my opinion it is why when Julia had the opportunity to work as a Children's doctor she took it without even discussing it with William. Deep down her upbring told her that he would not make a proper husband and therefore left without telling him about the opportunity.
I don't think William will go after her and I doubt that he would be interested in anyone for a while nursing a broken heart.

Maybe Julia went because she can't have kids herself?... It might be the only chance that she has to work with/be around children

I rewatched this today and noticed something a little odd (it's funny how it's the finale ep and previously i had issues with the premiere). Anyways, Murdoch deduces that Sally must have been the mastermind all along and that she was siphoning money from Pendrick's fountain of wealth. She hatches the art gallery scheme to try and get a lot of money at once but it goes awry. Then she fakes getting blown up so Pendrick will get arrested and she'll have complete access to his resources. Fine, this all makes sense. But the problem is when you think about the situation that led to the bomb exploding. Some prostitute gets strangled by her ex-pimp and then the team finds photos in a hidden safe and one of them just happens to be of Sally. This leads Murdoch to her and she in turn gives him a presumably fake black mail letter telling her to go to the bomb site. But my problem is that the whole plan revolved around complete chance. If the ex-pimp hadn't killed the prostitute and they hadn't discovered the location of the doxy pad and they hadn't found the hidden safe, and they hadn't found her picture in that safe, Sally couldn't have framed her husband. The only solution that makes sense to me, is that she had some other plan in the works to get Pendrick out of the way, but then these random events happened and so she scraped those plans. Cuz it doesn't make sense for her to be waiting around for something like this to happen. Yeah, so that's my long windedness at it's finest. =) And I still love this ep, the end still makes me cry. I still yell at William to chase after her. It's so beautifully tragic. Also, I wonder if we'll ever be seeing Sally again? It'd be interesting if she somehow showed up in the next ep that Pendrick is going to be in.

I really liked that episode too. It was a hearbreaking one for Murdoch and Julia but I also understand why Julia left. Although she loved William, she is also a professional lady and if a doctor offered her a job as the head of a children hospital, she should go for it. She did it and it pained her to leave William behind but at the end, William can also be a detective anywhere. I am sure that Buffallo has a police station too!!! He stayed in Toronto because this is where he belongs and we also know now that Toronto is where Julia belongs as well. As for Sally, I liked her character for the episodes. All episodes with her and Pendrick were really good. There were really great characters for the MM show. I was a bit mad at her because she was using William a lot and obviously, he never had a clue. Mind u , I was like him until the very end when he actually learnt that she framed her husband, Pendrick. She obvioulsly didnt love him at all. At first, I was wondering why she was flirting with William when she knew he was with Julia and she, herself was married to Pendrick but now I realised that she had to have him on her side at all time for her evil plan to work and Murdoch was blind to what she was up too. He said he had lots of respect for her,!!Well, I suppose he learnt his lesson not to trust women who r coming to close to him now( except Julia, of course). Mayb , this is the reason why he let Anna go so easily .!!! (just saying that coz I dont really want to see her anymore..lol) .I would love to see Sally and James Pendrick again though.

i can't believe that i JUST realized that Sally was to Murdoch as Irene Addler was to Sherlock! I mean, they're practically the same person when you stop to compare them! They both semi-seduce the men to get them to believe that they aren't up to something, they're both brilliant con artists and they both outwit the detectives and escape. There's no way that the writers didn't use Irene as a template for Sally. I don't mind, i'm just annoyed at myself for never seeing the connection before!

I don't really know who Irene Addler is!. Is she his assistant in the new movies?? because I think she is a great character played by Paltrow!! And now that I think about it, you r probably right but I think Sherlock Homes is very infatuated with her and vice versa. She is so great at helping him but I dont think she will ever betray him like Sally betrayed William in MM. I think William will never ever trust Sally again. Irene for Sherlock is the sidekick like in fact I saw Julia being William's sidekick in episode 2 of season 5: the 3D episode. I would love Julia to become a bit more of a detective and go with William not only as a coroner but also solving cases in the technical aspect. I think they would be a great team. William did mention one day to her that he could ask Brackenreid for her to work as a detective. I think she would also make a brilliant one because she can always finish William's sentences. She always has an answer for everything. so it would be perfect for her to be on the filed. I bet she would love it because she already likes to travel and meet the bodies unlike Doctor Francis who prefered the bodies to be brought to him to the morgue. Julia loves travelling and well , hopefully the writers are going that way. This is only my opinion of course but I would love to see her in the morgue but also more on the field to solve the crimes like Anna was with Murdoch in stroll on the wild side. That would b great to see. I cross my fingers for that to happen.

Have you read the description of the next few episodes on Alibi's site? Based on what she will be doing in Murdoch in Toyland, I think I know what Julia's "new role" will be in S6. It could mean she'd go out more with William on his cases. But not as a detective exactly. It could be interesting though.
