Why would he be on death row? The only person he killed was Luca Carducci and that was to protect William. He was only accused of attempted murder for Sally Pendrick. And that other guy who was doing the blackmailing (can't remember his name). He didn't even know about him. It would have been Sally Pendrick that had him killed.

Question: How is it that James Pendrick has been housed on death row in Don Jail for 6 months? ? Haven't all other hangings happened within 6 weeks? He has a very good lawyer!

Money and good lawyers. It's the same way Gillies avoided the noose for so long. ( Too bad). That's certainly possible but then why wasn't that done for Julia after her conviction? Oh ya, that hasn't happened yet. Sure, the writers are allowed some license but such blatant inconsistency for convenience sake annoys me. Julia's money was tied up in the divorce? Pendrick was MUCH richer, and men just get better lawyers?

She was a woman? And if I remember correctly, her lawyer was a bit incompetent. Her lawyer was a bumbler (again, for convenience sake). It always bothered me that her father was nowhere to be found, even as a mention. He was a man of wealth and influence in the city so you'd think he would have intervened. I know the writers didn't want to introduce a new character but they managed a decent job of it with Harry Murdoch. I guess it just wasn't Julia's season for character development. She just runs away...watching train pull out of station as we speak. The father ran away because he thought she did it and was ashamed of her. The public scandal, etc.

But it's also something to note that Ruby wasn't exactly a main character or even a supporting one. She was only in 4 eps throughout S2-4. Even Enid was in the show more! Maybe MM didn't invite her because she had rebuffed earlier invites to return on the show? There's no way to know the whole story here.

Reason #97 why I hate those two eps. Grrrrrr. Isn't it interesting though how much more impact Ruby has had than Enid? She's just such a whirlwind that she makes Enid look like milktoast by comparison. Frankly, I think that's true for all the ladies who've been paraded through...Enid, Edna, Tess, Minerva Fairchild and even Sally Pendrick. Don't forget Anna! She had a little a Ruby in her!

My homework for today will be..... Maybe once he was charged with attempted murder, Pendrick was looking at charges for involvement with the art heist as well? He could have been held in prison while that investigation was ongoing...then his "defense" of William would have been seen as murder and a cover up.

I'll certainly give you that one! Those two are my favourite returning female characters.
