3) In this scenario, William probably hasn't "gone all the way" since his mid-20s, and he still never slept with Julia - so he's still a "virgin" as far as sleeping with her is concerned.
If William hasn't slept with Julia, I don't think he's slept with Anna.

There's no indication that Julia could naturally have children. She's said she can't. Adoption is the more likely outcome, and I've never had a problem with that. There were plenty of children who needed loving parents, and W/J would be that. Plus, it gives storyline scope about them getting their child. And it means Julia doesn't have to be out of commission while pregnant. While I think the search for medical discoveries could be interesting, I'm not a fan of pregnancy stories either. I absolutely hate TV episodes with birthing scenes! But I do think the Republic of Doyle episode makes William's child canon, and I don't like to think he will marry someone else.

Totally messed up trying to post a message quoting a portion of snacky's earlier post so just carrying on here in a new post. I think there is some wondering by some of us as to whether or not Julia and William have been together at some point in time in the past.
That reminded me of something I read on a fansite once, about a really old British series, The Avengers (the John Steed and Mrs Peel episodes). During the time that Diana Rigg was on the show, Steed dressed like an Edwardian gentleman (William!! + umbrella) and Mrs. Peel took control of most of their situations dressed in a catsuit (bet Julia would have worn one in the 60's!!). Did I mention the show was 1960's Quirky? There seemed to be something going on between them but they still called one another "Steed" and "Mrs Peel" and nothing was ever played out romantically on screen apart from brief but seemingly loving kisses. At different times, each of the stars (Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg) and a writer, in interviews, were asked if Steed and Mrs. Peel had ever slept together.
(These quotes are from "The (Permanent) Avengers Shrine" site on Angelfire):
"When asked whether or not Steed and Emma slept together, Patrick Macnee answered, "Definitely. I should say at least three or four times a week..."
"whereas Diana Rigg replied, "I don't think they did... It was one of those glorious, deeply intimate flirtations that spin off into infinity." (Patrick Macnee speaking to Ted Johnson, and Diana Rigg speaking to Vince Cosgrove, of TV Guide Magazine.)"
"Me? (I think this is the web page owner talking here) "I'm squarely between the two extremes. I imagine them getting down to business only on very special occasions, such as holidays ("Too Many Christmas Trees"), or birthdays ("Who's Who???"), or after particularly stressful events ("The House That Jack Built" or "The Joker")."
"........As for writer/producer Brian Clemens, although he claims that nothing was planned, he personally considers the two to have had a hot, wild affair that was over just prior to their filmed adventures together, and while they were still close, they were each free to explore other relationships. "
For ourselves- MM fans, I don't know that we will ever know the answer to the question of whether or not William and Julia slept together before their marriage but I sort of like the idea that perhaps it is not written anywhere and the writers and actors are simply guided by their own individual feelings about William and about Julia. I imagine that can only work best if the actors have a great on-screen chemistry and for whatever reason Yannick and Helene have it as William and Julia. Their chemistry is the only thing that has allowed this "endless courtship" to be played out for so long!!

I agree with this, too. Definitely. And William is going to have so much fun discovering what she knows. It makes me wonder how the writers will handle the marital side of their relationship IF they actually get married this season. My guess is they will completely ignore it i.e. not even crime solving conversations in bed instead of a smoke... I think it more likely that their fully dressed banter will just carry more innuendo. Sigh. If William has one of his "visions" while they're being intimate, Julia will make him sleep on the sofa for a week. Innuendo isn't the worst that could happen...

It does have those quirky/surreal elements of great cult TV shows, too, which would allow the relationship to also be suggested in symbolic sorts of ways. I'm sure it generated its own fanfic in paper zines or fan-made comics, and people had the same ongoing debates. (Though the Avengers got lucky that it was made in an age before the fans could organize and demand progress in the relationship!) I agree it probably isn't written anywhere in the show "Bible" - though I bet the actors do discuss it from time to time. If Yannick says "there was no French kissing" in Toronto, I have a feeling I know what his take is!

LOL - I bet that happens if William spots something that helps him solve a case. William's going to have to learn about perspective and prioritization-he can't just keep throwing himself wholly into cases. I think this would be a big area for conflict for them post-marriage. He's going to have to learn to prioritize.

I think Julia will have to get his attention back in interesting ways instead.

Just had a thought about possibility for Crabtree Mania.......they've already mentioned they are going to have vaudeville in an episode. What a great chance to have George somehow try his hand at being part of a vaudeville show and becoming an unexpected and resounding overnight "hit". ..that would be George, as a constable doing vaudeville in his off-time; a parallel to Jonny, a stand up comedian who portrays a constable.

Jonny Harris is not really outgoing offstage either. Many actors and musicians are quite shy when they are not in "performance" mode. Barbra Streisand is a case in point.

Haha, well George could be a case of a guy who goes all out when he gets on stage. I'm not sure I like the idea, though. I prefer shy, demure George.

Ooh, I like it. I'm guessing the girls who then proceed to chase him are plot devices to make Emily jealous?

Jonny is a comedian, but George is so shy! I can't imagine it! He wasn't so shy when he filled in for Murdoch in the "Filmed Adventures...." but you're probably right. The Vaudeville storyline is probably about one of the performers getting murdered. That would be a stretch, eh?
