But does that involve comandeering William's handcuffs? After all, he did threaten to leave without hearing her out... At this point we've either: A) Scared TPTB off, or B) Given them an idea for a very "edgy" scene. I truly don't believe there are tensions I think they've forgotten to pay proper attention to the relationship as there was so much other stuff going on, including another relationship that they seemed to think more important. Of course it wasn't and now we're left with two problems to fix. Probably not, but this fic is my attempt to make some sense of the lack of Jilliam this season. A trouble in paradise fic. Lucky you!

No, they're not. But I don't want to make it a laundry list either. Hence, my struggle. Perhaps one of them and I think it will have to be Julia, will have to come to their senses, put their pride aside and make the first move. Even if she has to do something drastic to make William listen. Or send him a note but he's not too good at working that out either. Oh, she's already done it. William's still being sulky though. Welcome to my mind!

Well it seems to me that neither of them are communicating well but William is at a major disadvantage here as he's never been able to communicate his feelings. In all 8 seasons he's only ever told Julia he loves her once. Maybe Julia has to reach out to him here. There again, I think Julia may only have said it once too however she can communicate her feelings if she wants to. No, they're not. But I don't want to make it a laundry list either. Hence, my struggle. That's why it's good to have random drama to shake things up! Sometimes a conversation can be helped along by object lessons, too.

But I'm just joking about the random camera sweep of handcuffs on the bedrails. Though I'd find that hilarious, FB would probably go nuclear over how "out of character" and/or "immoral" that was... The cabaret outfit honestly impressed the heck out of me! I can't believe the American syndicated version cut that out.

Oh, now there's an idea though I'd go the route of a case that started in similar circumstances and ended up with one of the partners being murdered by the other. May make him stop and think and that way it's William that makes the first move ... again, unfortunately, but in this case it was him that sparked this in the first place.

We both missed all the fun. Apparently! Too bad! Well done ladies who were here. You all explained yourselves very well and in no way represented fandom in such a manner that's embarrassing! I truly mean that, by the way! Thank you. . I was quite impressed with the tone of PM's posts. I believe that he genuinely cares about MM and sometimes the business of MM may not always line up with our priorities. Fair enough. We don't take that part of his job into consideration and I've never really contemplated what they all went through during the transition between CITY and CBC. I am very glad he shared that. My frustration boiled over and now I have some insight. PM said they wanted a story arc for Julia that she could own. I agree with that thinking because her role/appearances were becoming forced to 'fit them in'. I now understand what their goal was but it went too far and ended up marginalizing the marriage. They miscalculated and I think PM heard that last night. His tone was VERY different from earlier in the day on FB. At least now I have hope that those little gestures/glances etc can be integrated into the 5 episodes that have already been written for S9. It took me a long time to write that post because I didn't want to come across as a hater. They are too easy to dismiss out of hand. I'm happy with the points I made because they really are the heart of what we're upset about. If just that much can help shift the writing teams' perspective then I'm happy. My frustration came from knowing what the problem was but having no avenue to let it be heard. Thank you PM for providing it.

You did a great job last night getting the points across and I think he did appreciate where you were coming from. My only worry was you weren't going to get it up before he left. He's notorious for doing the 'hit and walk'. That's one of the reasons I posted that, I thought it may draw him out again if he was still here. I have to say I was impressed that he did come on the board (though I do suspect he may have been told to at least look) and more impressed he actually posted. We really did need to know his pov as well without all the rhetoric that was going on on fb. I still swear he likes to get people going on fb though. I wish he'd come back and discuss a little more but I doubt we'll see him again. I think he spent some time going over the posts though both before and after he posted.

I know you were still smarting from your morning exchanges on FB. Are you feeling like we have been heard? It's too late for anything to change this season, but how about for S9? I hope PM stops by occasionally just to say hi there. At least he knows now that we're not a lynch mob even when we are really unhappy.

I could see PM's point on force-fitting Julia. The profiler idea wasn't taking off, for whatever reason, and I was rolling my eyes at William thanking Julia for her participation. The woman needs a useful job!
IMHO, suffrage still could have worked if it had been integrated into the mysteries more. I find it ironic that after a strong defense from the "crumpets" accusation, MM retreated into Crumpets TV. There was a lot of drama in the suffrage movement, and a lot of conflict with the law. It seems like the writers didn't use the abundant potential for drana they had ag their disposal because they were afraid Julia wouldn't "own" the scene if William was present.

I did say a couple of things but I was trying to step back and I didn't want him to realize I was the person he was talking to earlier in the day. You got the point across for all of us. I do wonder though if my post in the morning set some of it up as Shaftesbury follow my twitter. I was somewhat encouraged that he did admit the suffrage plot didn't go as planned. I think it's the first time I've seen him admit a mistake. Perhaps there's hope for him yet. I had calmed down by last night, I was almost in mourning for the show after the morning's events. I feel somewhat better, at least we've been heard. Whether it will make any difference I can't say but if he was told to take note of what fans are saying he may have to go back over those 5 scripts to make some changes. I hope to see a show that's more like we're used to but I very much doubt that will happen. I'm still not overly optimistic for S9 but that won't stop me watching, at least at the start. We do have 7 good seasons to watch if we do have to say goodbye. Are you still doing your treatise?

I was just thinking, that sleeve at the end, from its colour and material, could have been a woman's coat.....Eva Pearce? Sally Pendrick? George's mother? One of his aunts gone bad?
Just a thought.....

Just a thought..... I think we may be being deceived where the colour of the sleeve is concerned. I was thinking it was a lighter blue but on looking at it again I suspect it's a dark colour that looks paler with the street lights on it.
