A thought just occurred to me.....I'm sure former Chief Constable Gilles would have some dirt on Davis.....could he make a comeback? Clemency or early release for cooperation? Just putting it out there...... What a great idea! Not sure he could come back as CC but at least he'd be out of prison. Need Hodge out too!

I must say Davis makes Gilles look like a saint! He did help with George and now we all know why he was so tightly wound. He had a secret that could - and did - finish him. Maybe he'd be willing to help now that he has nothing to lose. I think that Watts will not take it well if Jackson is the one we lose. He had been making Jackson kind of his George. Intense motivation to do Davis in!
Again, I will point out this little tidbit. After the shooting, when William was checking the constables, he didn't cross himself. I actually kept an eye out for it. At that point, I don't think anyone was dead!

Okay, I've mentioned before how it has really bothered me that George never looked to see if any one was trailing him, leading them right to the church every time. But my husband thinks it was done on purpose, as a sort of sting perhaps. But why then? He also thinks that George is definitely not dead as well because of the closeup on him that specifically did not show any blood. We watched it several times, paused it, and looked closely. It's dark, but why a long shot on George w/no blood? William has invented a bulletproof vest...might the Constables have been wearing those? I don't know-I'm just asking the question.

Even if he wanted to help and did, they would still keep him imprisoned for his homosexuality. Maybe that's why Watts appeared at the end, he might've been keeping tabs on the case but uninvolved until he heard about Jackson's death. If forgot to mention it in my review but I also thought they might be wearing bulletproof vests. Although they were essentially attacked by a firing squad which would have definitely compromised those crude inventions.

Since I didn't actually see anyone get shot in the head, the vest idea may well work.
Here's another thought. They could take Jackson off the show without killing him. Perhaps a long recovery, leaving room for a return if his other show shuts down. Just something that will leave a door open.
That many shots must have been heard and I bet a cloud of witness will see the shooters exiting the church. I really don't see how Davis could cover any of it up. If he survives the situation with Brackenreid, he's done anyway.
I love summer, but I'd gladly skip this one to get to Season 11!

I actually think it was smart for Watts to lie low as it were and make his appearance only when he needed to-by not immediately involving himself as the others immediately did plus the fact that he's something of an outsider, makes him a good choice to see and observe as well as be privy to things that the others may not be aware of. He's an excellent mole of sorts. Plus, it's entirely possible for Giles to have served his time and be released. He'd be awesome to be involved in this as well as an ally...you know how he feels about the truth. Plus, it would be good to see him redeemed.

I'd love to see both Giles and Hodge out of prison and working to help SH4 clear up this mess, and I agree it was smart for Watts to hold back until it was obvious he was needed. I really like Watts and although I wasn't sure of him at the start he's really grown on me because he's proven himself to be as dogged a detective as Murdoch even though his methods are different. He seems like an honest caring cop, I hope he can help.

WOW we have just seen Hell to pay in Australia...What a finale. It was a knockout and so very different to the usual episodes. Brackenried...dead... I hope not. I hope that a third party fired the shot and killed Davis...Yeah, clutching at straws I know. Miss Cherry is a stooge and lousy girlfriend for George. Please don't let George be the one who dies. William looks good with a rugged look. He does not need make up it ages him and he is good looking without it. Nothing better happen to Julia as she is a much loved Aussie. We need our W/J jilliam fix even though we saw hardly any this season. Peter Mitchell knows how to write a story that will guarantee a huge audiencce from MM fans. This episode was a real thriller.I watched Victor, Victorian last night as well. Such a difference.I think we need an episode with a difference and this is it. Now for season 11 and out of the dark time into some better times with some of George's great oneliners. W/J moments, and Braceknreids great bubbling personality....Have to say Hell to pay was brilliant
