Eclair and I just got to The Tesla Effect last night so this is a double-scoop of "Wear's My Hat?" hahahah! I agree, it's a theme now. Ziggy had a great point about what would happen if someone took William's hat away. Like FallenBelle's tie-angst fanfic - that might actually be too horrible to contemplate for MM television, in a way seemingly more "angsty" things (someone having a very, very, very bad day then getting shot) which would seem to be much worse would still be okay within the MM style. The reason is that homburg has such tremendous symbolic importance, that it could be subconsciously extremely threatening. (At least to long time viewers). Or...in the right context...it could prime viewers to say to themselves: "uh oh. these guys are in BIG trouble now..." Especially when William tugs down the brim...look out . He can't tug the brim if those guys took his hat!

Mmmm, can you imagine what would happen if he were to tug the brim of his hat and tighten his tie at the same time? **mind blown** i think I know why he tightened the tie before charging the bad guy in 0803, it harnesses his sexual frustration into superpowers! **runs before people throw things at her**

(refers to that whole "tapas" theory of Indian superpowers I was meditating on earlier...).

That would require 3 hands...something my sister-in-law, mother of 3 boys, says is required because one hand is always on their penis!!!

I'd like to credit men with a little sophistication after they reach the age of maturity. A little-I don't think it ever completely goes away, mind you! W probably just thinks about touching it.

Sorry if I caused any offense. My previous comments fell outside the parameters of pervitude. We're all about inference and innuendo. Just chalk it up to being overwhelmed with the idea of simultaneous homburg and tie action!

Tie tug and hat brim are possible because ties are phallic symbols. The combination of the two makes me week in the knees and I declare I just might swoon.

Magic Homburg protective power DOWN in The Murdoch Trap!
William left his hat on the table. Therefore he was vulnerable to falling into the trap and was not protected from almost being poisoned to death by gas!

Therefore he was vulnerable to falling into the trap and was not protected from almost being poisoned to death by gas! This thread is pretty funny. I wonder why I forgot about it? But uh, how do you explain him falling from the ladder in convalescence, eh?

uh, how do you explain him falling from the ladder in convalescence, eh? Does he still have his hat on when he hits the ground? Perhaps it protected him from dying - his injuries weren't that severe - his problem in convalescence was that he was being poisoned!

Does he still have his hat on when he hits the ground? so then how did he survive the poison I have to check the ep for the exact disposition of the hat - if it was knocked off, William had no MAGIC protection. But that doesn't mean everything will kill him when the hat is off. Then he is a mere mortal who may or may not recover from poison.

But that doesn't mean everything will kill him when the hat is off. Then he is a mere mortal who may or may not recover from poison. The hat just enhances his survival chances, as it encases him in a semi-permeable membrane.
