Those observations fit right in with snacky's theory of the homburg . I hadn't made the distinction between jacketlees vs shirtless in terms of vulnerability but I think you're both bang on. Less is definitely more with MM. If it's all out there on the show what's left for us shippers to speculate about?? It seems that in William's case, clothes really do make the man. I was just telling my husband tonight that I suspect that's one of the reasons I enjoy the show so much-it's subtle, but it's definitely there. No, William's not telling Julia what he'd like to do her, and Julia's never said that she doesn't like it when William shows familiarity with other women, but their looks say it all. I think this is a key reason why I don't care for a lot of American TV. Less is more with me-it's hotter that way! Plus, yes, the speculation is fun! I've been screencapping some of those looks. They're priceless! Sorry was trying to add said pics but they're too big.

I need one of my kids to help with that. Will work on it. Just so there's no let down, both W and J are fully dressed. These are caps of the look away shots each has when the other is being familiar with someone else.

You've just given me a good idea, but one that I'll work on once the snow flies. Right now it's a GORGEOUS sunny day so I'm heading out to get my hands dirty in the garden!

That scene is really noticeable. Eclair also caught it without any nudging from me. He caught the glance at Anna, too, lol. The TGM one is the most fascinating though, because it really does look like William is speculating in detail about something. A woman bent over a bed? What's to speculate about? I've looked at that scene so many times and I still don't see it. I've stopped it at just the right moment and to me his eyes don't line up with her rear end. He starts to lean back into the position where he's staring before Julia leans over and he looks like he's looking past her to the dead girl. I could be wrong, I'd like to think he's sizing up Julia's rear but after numerous attempts at seeing it I still don't.

I think it was Talbottrail and I were discussing that we had a particular fondness for William with his jacket off-it's just so tantalizing to see him just that little bit unputtogether-even better if the sleeves are rolled up. Plus, it's such a great view of his ass. Maybe less is more? Although I loved the scene of him in just his undershirt in "Last Train to Kingston"-he's so vulnerable there. But, I'm certainly not saying no to shirtless William. Those observations fit right in with snacky's theory of the homburg . I hadn't made the distinction between jacketlees vs shirtless in terms of vulnerability but I think you're both bang on. Less is definitely more with MM. If it's all out there on the show what's left for us shippers to speculate about?? I believe it was me, I've always liked a man in a vest especially when it fits nicely to a good body! However I also like the tieless, unbuttoned collar look too plus the collarless/turned up sleeves look, especially in MI and Stairway to Heaven. For some reason StH really takes my fancy, perhaps because his suspenders are down and there's a clean look of the collarless shirt with the top two buttons open, a slightly less respectable William. This is the extent of undress for me. I'm definitely a proponent of leaving it to the imagination ... though I didn't mind bathing suit William either!

Without their work, these two will have very little to sustain a lifetime of marriage. He has had all these years to adjust himself and he has made some progress. So you think William needs to take Julia down off the pedestal before their relationship can even go any further than where it is now? I don’t think he can do that even if he wanted to. He can’t help the way he feels. He has not been able to climb up there to join her and stay there with her despite his best efforts. Things are just the way they are. I am only saying that in my opinion, marriage will not fix it. They will have their moments from time to time but things will generally continue as they are. They just don’t connect emotionally and romantically the way lovers do who have been in love and with eachother for more than 5 years. For that to happen, they will have to change both characters, or at least one of them and I don’t want that to happen. They are both very strong and unique like the other main characters and that has been one of the main attractions of the show.

You'll have to wear your shipper glasses for that . He was surprised to see Julia all doled up with cleavage out in the open and a feather in her hair, wearing a pretty dress just to visit a crime scene. He took a look from shoes to feather just as she bent over to examine the body. He was like “hey baby, what’s up?”. She then explained she had been out on a date with an Accountant when she was called out and that’s why she was dressed that way.

I like William best in his waistcoat, without his hat or coat and a camera shot of his back to the side. I love looking at him from behind dressed like that . Although I like him in his full gear too especially the navy one. I wasn’t keen on him in his undershirt, nothing much left to the imagination there! I also like Brackenreid best in full formal wear/bowtie and tailcoat like in the New Year’s ball. He looks so funny in ordinary suit especially when he tried to do the cat walk in the new suit Isaac Lowe made for him. He looked ridiculous, I couldn’t stop laughing. It reminded me of how he used to look in full uniform in season 1. George is the funniest to me in that his grey "Detective" suit he said his aunt made for him. He doesn’t need to say anything but just appear in that suit and I crack up. I like him best in his Police gear.

Yeah, I've been careful not to say much because I want his honest reactions. He's caught quite a bit of the same stuff we have (although not to our level of obsession analysis. Although he'll probably never admit it, I think he's shipping them too. While we were watching "I, Murdoch" he patted my hand and told me "Don't worry, I'm pretty sure they get back together." I've been laying on the commentary because I didn't want Eclair to go "yawn, PBS mystery" and wander off. I don't think he's hooked yet, but I'm pulling him in~

A woman bent over a bed? What's to speculate about? I bet William can think of a ton of variations. And there's the question of how to get Julia in that situation in the first place.

A woman bent over a bed? What's to speculate about? We all agree that he hasn't been getting any/much action, by choice. It doesn't mean he has no appetite. There's nothing wrong with looking...just don't get caught. Though I still think that one might be a "dark place" issue for William. Kind of disrespectful positioning!
