Brackenreid says that the owner of the diamond paid for it in blood. I took that to mean that he was dead. Therefore the diamond had no owner? I thought it was a Blood Diamond. Or at least impiled to be one as it was ahem acquired in a war zone.

They're called blood diamonds or conflict diamonds. But the inspector says he paid for it with blood. I assume that to mean he paid for it with his life. Not like he rocked up at Tiffany & Co with a phial of the red stuff.

Alrighty Becca's here, finally with the time to write all she wants about this frankly awesome episode. JILLIAM: Yep it's back! Favourite lines? ".....I've asked Dr. Ogden to assist me" "Of course you have" MURDOCH FAMILY DOES SCIENCE AND IT IS REALLY ADORABLE WHEN THEY SAY WHAT THE GREASE/MOLD IS AT THE SAME TIME OKAY? BE STILL MY SHIPPING HEART!! and of course the whole "This is what you get for skulking around an alley by yourself" Yes William WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO LEARN that you don't do that. No. Bad things always happen. ALWAYS! And the fact that Murdoch & Ogden came up with Spot the Difference? was pretty awesome. GEEORRGGEE: As I said before. COME GET A HUG! It's quite sad really. George has lost an awful lot here. A beautiful shining future was laid out before him, and was cruelly snatched away. He's got an awful lot of rebuilding and healing to do. I think the rest of the season should be focused on that. Though it would be awesome to see if he picked up any "tricks" from his breif stint in the Don Jail. GILES: Aw man I really wanted to hug him right at the end there. He seemed so resigned when George walked away. I do hope George stops by and sees him. He's got to be pretty lonely. I think it was pretty good of him to descreetly help Murdoch with his investigation. Once a cop always a cop eh? SIMMOONN: Nice little twist with Simon there at the end. I can't say I didn't see it coming, but it was still an interesting twist of events. Anyway, I've got a book calling my name right now so please excuse me.

Not like he rocked up at Tiffany & Co with a phial of the red stuff. This wouldn't be the first time MM winked at modern events or planted a pop culture reference, either! I doubt this was a set up for a future episode about Conflict Diamonds: it was just an invocation of the role the history of Empire played in the current situation.

That scene felt like a direct result of fan feedback: but it didn't come across as fan service at all. That was the Julia science-geeky involvement that has been essential to MM from the start, and this belongs in the show.

A mere 5 pages so far? Not nearly the avalanche of discussion leading up to the wedding!

By the way, I noticed that George actually pleaded "nolo contendere" when lizmc said this isn't a part of the Canadian legal system. But was it back in the day? That's what I want to know...I looked up Nolo Contendre last summer and it really only exists in some States for minor offenses. I never thought of it, but I guess I did use it a few years ago for a speeding ticket-I paid the fine but pled no contest, and just as long as I didn't get another within 6 months, it wouldn't go on my record.

I finally got to watch and of course loved it I'm bummed for George, but I figured something of the sort would happen. Hopefully Edna comes back as I really don't want them to start George on another relationship. My favorite bit had to be when Julia told William "That's what you get for skulking in an alley by yourself." lol I loved that part too! The line between wife and doctor were beautifully blurred there as she treated him. He does need to start thinking about these things more often!

I got the impression Julia was rather covetous of the diamond and would have preferred they hadn't found the rightful owner. s Me too. every time I watch it is more apparent. LOL I think she did as well, but I'm not sure how much I'm supposed to read into it. It could be a stereotypical scene of the woman lusting after the diamond, but not Julia's not really prone to lusting after pricey baubles as a general rule. However, is this some foreshadowing of some sort? Will the diamond be back in some form?

I was waiting for a scene at the end showing them getting robbed! Surely it'll go missing later on, or a fake one will be in it's place.

I thought this might perhaps allude to the financial stress of marrying someone without her means and the fact William is notoriously frugal. Perhaps her own engagement is an inexpensive one (despite the fact it looks like Darcy's and she was very eager to show it off). At the same time I have trouble imagining her caring: she was the "dowdy" dresser while Ruby was the one receiving baubles from International royalty.

I wonder if that's the last we've heard of the diamond? I read it as someone else's blood, that he caused to be shed - either literally or metaphorically.
